Hi everyone! I have already seen so many beautiful gems on this site and was wondering if anyone wanted to post some of their favorite loose and colored gemstones. I sadly do not currently have a working camera or I would post some of my gems.

Not my stone, but I wish it was, and I know this guy does not touch up his pictures. Doesn''t it look like it''s plugged into an electric outlet? Mozambique paraiba.

Here''s my fun little (???) collection of Mozambique copper bearing tourmalines. Think I''m a bit obsessed with those stones or what???

Sure why not post some pics. I am really lovin spinels right now so thats what I have been collecting as of late.

The first one is 6.96cts. It just glows in all lighting because of the microscopic inclusions throught the stone. I have taken it to a gemologist friend and looked at it under a mircoscope anmd can not see the silk at 60x.

This one is a 1.28 very saturated orangish red.

1.21ct

This last one can''t hold a light to those copper bearing tourmalines but for plain ole indicolite this is a sweet one. 8.95 cts.

I''m drooling over this one.

Nice collection of stones there twodoor2

I just noticed the link to your collection Harriet. Quite a nice collection also. I really like the color in the emerald cut royal rhodolite.

Hi Steph, great idea to start this thread. I love all the photos that everyone has posted so far. I will take some closeups of my gem dish and post one here.

Thanks! I just started a few months ago and there''s so much to learn.

Great topic!! I love seeing everyone''s different colored gems. I only have one loose stone at the moment and that''s my 1.61 ct aquamarine. I still haven''t found "the" setting for it yet.

If nobody minds my lack of non vendor pics (no digicam), I''ll share a few of my collection. I have more spinels but no picture, means I can''t post them. There''s another red cushion, blue round and a colour shift (gold to hot pink) spinel.

Red Spinel Pair 1.84 ct. tw. 5.1 x 5.3 mm.
Squarish cushion cuts from Mogok. Medium dark very slightly orangey vivid red color.

Red Spinel Pair 1.79 ct. tw. 5.5 x 5.5 mm.
Square cushion cuts also from Mogok. Medium dark very slightly orangey vivid red color.

These are my tourmalines:

Unheated blue green Brazilian paraiba. Quite small (around 0.4 carats) with a Barion cut. The picture next to it is the original rough.

Approximately 1 carats bi-colour Brazilian paraiba. Also unheated. Scissor cut.

I also have this Congo tourmaline: 1.90 Cts. in a Barion Emerald cut.
It is roughly 5.9 mm x 8.3 mm and is a neon Blue-Green colour. The stone is a brighter paraiba like colour in the middle, and fades to a medium neon teal in the ends.

Yet another Congo tourmaline of about 0.93 carats cut in a round brilliant shape measuring 6 mm. Also a neonish greenish blue colour. All my tourmalines are courtesy of Daniel Stair.

My concave cut blue zircon; a Richard Homer work of art. I think it is just under 2 carats.

I do have a couple more stones that I wish I had pictures to share:
2 colour change garnets (pear and cushion)
1 pink tourmaline
1 pear concave aquamarine
My latest paraiba acquisition
A couple amethysts

Wow, this one is amazing!

Lovely looking pictures Chrono. Please share some pics of your own please.

Ok a couple of more pics taken in " real world " lighting conditions.

Both are tourmalines. The cushion is a little over 8 cts. .

I''m hoping a friend will help me take a few pictures next week. I don''t have a digital camera and my attempt with a 35mm camera failed very badly a few months ago - none of the 24 exposures turned out.

This is 2.21 cts around 8mm.

Hrm, I really should get some close-up pics but here are a few group shots:

top row: aquamarine, pair of tsavorites
middle row: green beryl, blue zircon
bottom row: blue spinel, chrysoberyl, rubelite tourmaline
