Looking into resetting my oval into a trellis 3 stone

Hi all!

So i am heading towards getting my 1.23 J oval reset into a trellis 3 stone. I do still admire my bezel halo, but the channel set stones and hard lines are bugging me a bit. I am yearning for more of a flowy design with less metal.

Mt budgets is tight, i know DH is not going to be pleased with a 3 rd reset, but...yeah, we all have our quirks and this is mine.

Niel suggested a 3 stone which the idea is seriously growing on me. She suggested an oval 3 stone, while i am liking pear sidestones for my oval. Below are a compilation if pics that i have found.

I am also debating on the metal...my erings have always been in platinum. My wedding band is a channel princess eternity in 18k wg. On one hand, i want to stick to platinum because i feel like staying loyal to the original metal that my very first ering was in +sounds silly, i know). On the other hand, other metals are cost less and i find yellow gold oh so traditionnal, warm and romantic.

I also am looking for a vendor who can do this for a decent price...i have sent an email to DK...

Lastly, what to do with my setting after my oval comes out? Would the vendor keep it and it can help offset the price of my new setting? Or get it back from the vendor to sell it on my own?

So many questions!!!

Okay, pics of my current oval platinum ering, then pics of 3 stones rings with oval sidestones, then pear sidestones...

Appreciate all your ideas and input!!

Do you want more presence or finger coverage? It looks like the 3 stone oval has more presence and looks more substantial. The oval with the pears is gorgeous and to me looks like a flower with side leaves and will cover the finger edge to edge but seems to be more subtle.

As for metal, have you thought of unplated white gold? It will be less shiny than plated white gold and would match your wedding ring more closely since you said that is 18k WG.

Because I've seen dk do a beautiful three stone bezel for my mother and MSOP - something similar to the Titanic diamond ring you could do two side ovals or even rounds

I dont think i will choose the bezel route. Although i love bezels, i am wanting something more flowy with less metal showing. I guess in the end its and personal choice.

I do still like the pear sides over the oval sides for some reason...i just find 3 ovals together look kinda squished together.

I guess trellis settings are all custom? Are there some nice 3 stone premade settings that could be considered?

I can't of any three stone trellis rings with pears at the moment but I'll look

I like the oval with pear side stones...very pretty!

Your original ring...if the vendor keeps it to offset cost you probably arent going to get much for it (meltdown of metal price + some
for the stones?) This is just my guess though. Because its an oval (vs. round) its not going to be easy for a vendor to re-sell.

Same re-sell issue goes if you resell it...it would be lovely with a colored stone in it so hopefully someone from the colored stone
forum would be happy to pick up at a reduced price.

I love an oval with pear sidetones. Did a search and you might find this thread helpful though there are not many pics. I will keep looking. Found another couple of threads that might be helpful.

And look at Kaleigh's beauty and KristyDarling's beauty. OMG gorgeous. I know KD's center diamond is not an oval but can give you an idea.

Thank u Missy! I am gonna look through all that after work! Or during my lunch hour!!

I think i am gonna buy a 3 stone cz ring with 0.30 ct pear sides and 8x6 oval center to wear awhile to see if i truly love the look on my hands before resetting for real. I REALLY want this to be long term and not just a phase...if that is possible!
