Diamonds by Lauren was great to me in the past and I think they have great quality. I am looking for a ruby that is pretty true red rather thank overly pink or something else. Also, would like one that sparkles! Here is the ring....

In the past I had bought this ring, and she was blown away with it (sapphire). The price was about double, but the ring itself is very nicely made and the sapphire really looks great.... I would hoping the ruby would be on par with that...r9606-02.jpg. https://diamondsbylauren.com/index.php?search[terms]=R9606&search[mode]=any

The color is excellent! If you're looking for sparkle, however, this is going to be more of a translucent, silky stone. So you'll likely see some glow, but she's not going to sparkle like your sapphire. DBL doesn't mention treatments... not sure if that's important to you. But it greatly influences value. I'd also like to know origin, but that's me.

Thanks Autumn in NE. Will the price go up a lot for a similar one that is more clear and sparkles more?

Absolutely... exponentially. This is a very nice ring. We just want you to know exactly what you're getting if you decide to buy. Knowing whether a ruby is untreated, heated, and/or clarity enhanced is supremely important in order to properly price the piece. I would ask DBL for that info.

Agreed

I heard back...
We believe it to be a Thai ruby, and also that it was heated.

It's more opaque- and the color is deep blood red.

The issue may be the lack of fluoresce as Thai rubies often have the chromium suppress by Iron. So in low light or inside lighting it may look very dark and lifeless. That would be my concern.

Ok good to know. I'm debating buying it and seeing it person and sending back to resize unless I find something better. I'm not sure if I can find much better in my price range though and I like that it's platinum. I don't really want to go smaller in size on the ruby either.

I checked out links above but didn't really find anything similar in my price range.

@Bron357 I think this was the problem with my Thai one, but couldn't put it into words. It was really flat. I sold it. For reference, this was mine, unheated. 20230728_105348.jpg
