Some of you might remember that we lost one of our cats, Carly, last year and that leaves our five year old cat Dexter alone. Well, we decided since Dexter is still on the young side, he might benefit from a friend.

We are adopting this wannabe bobcat from the shelter we all volunteer at. He is turning 4 months on December 8th. Haven’t really come up with any promising name ideas but he will kind of be older son’s cat so nothing jewelry-related :cool2:

His original name was Jan because they thought he was a girl, then they changed it to Jam. When I went to visit him over the weekend, I saw the sign from the volunteers asking if they can call him P.J. short for Pyjamas
If you zoom in on that picture you can see his furry little mischievous face.

@stracci2000 tagging you since he is def ours.

OMG is he stinking cute! I would call him Buster Brown for no reason other than I like that name.

He’s gorgeous and looks like such a sweetie!

As a suggestion, I would go with a 2-syllable name.

One syllable, it’s too hard to call them. More than two, the cats have trouble learning their names.

I’ve actually had cats who come when I call them =)2

Maybe Tiger, but that’s a bit obvious.
Milton (reminds me of a Canadian football team, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats). If his tail is striped, how about Ruler, like the markings on a ruler, and anyway, he might end up being the boss in the house! Ha! Ha!
Hamish, just because it popped into my head.

Oh wait, that's what I call Miso !

Jelly Bean, Pierogie, Gnocchi, Skittles, ....just kidding!

Sheldon, Leonard, Hartford, Stamford, Danbury,
Kramer, George, Norm, Cliff, Frasier

I don't know! Maybe you'd better wait a week or so till see his personality.

I have no name suggestions but what a sweet fellow, just look at that face! Congrats on your new member to your family. Let us know how it goes and how well the other kitty accepts him. Fingers crossed it is a smooth friendship!

@AprilBaby

Bobcats are pretty common where we live, it is a wild animal but so pretty.

@Garnetgirl, we have always named our cats one or two syllable names and they have always known their names. Now whether they choose to respond is a different matter

He's adorable. I would wait till you know him, but first thought is he looks very curious, so maybe something along that ling.

Be-Bob (for wannabe-bobcat)

We see a bobcat coming through our back yard a few times per year. Just passing through.
Last year there were 2 walking together-- one a bit larger than the other. A male and female sometimes pair up to travel together for a few months in winter, and mate in January/February.
