Hi all - I appreciate the contributions made by everyone. The information provided has been great with my search. I've finally narrowed my search down to a specific range of diamonds. I'm looking for a round brilliant, ideal cut, 1.5-1.75ct, VS2-SI1, G-I in the $12.5K or better price range. I'm planning on setting the diamond in a platinum Tacori 2620RDLG. I found a couple diamonds that look great at first glance on JA, but like many of the newbie buyers, i'm looking for validation. I asked for an idealscope but JA said they only provide 3 per customer. Before going further with JA, I'd like to know if anyone has an opinion on these two as far as value.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The second stone has a larger spread than the first one due to the difference in depth percentage even though the first is a 1.72 and the second a 1.60. Between the two of them, I'd go with the 1.60. I would also call James Allen and ask for some of their picks in your size range.

I would also place that stone on hold so someone else doesn't snatch it up.

Thanks for the prompt responses. Your feedback was helpful. I asked JA for some for recommendations and more info on the 1.6 and 1.65ct stones.
