After ten years of dating (the same guy!) my bff is getting married! Yaaaaaay!

She is an incredible person and she was instrumental in making my engagement/wedding time a wonderful time in my life. I am honoured to (finally!) be able to do the same for her! I’d like to get her a piece of jewelry for her bridal shower (and I’ll be gifting her a kettle from her registry). My budget is up to $300 USD, but truth be told I’d be rather pleased to stay under $200! Please don’t tempt me with anything over $300, as I don’t think it’s in the budget.

Requirements:

$300 or less
Silver metals ONLY
Necklace, bracelet, or earrings
-Right hand ring is ok so long as it is CLEARLY not an e-ring
Pre-loved A-ok

Her style:
Think Mad Men meets the British Royal Family. She is classy to the max, refined, sophisticated. She likes vintage and antique stuff but tends toward more classic and timeless styles. Honestly, I’d be happy giving her something that is a solitaire simple style! Something she could easily wear everyday would be cool, but if it’s a special style for special occasions, that’s cool too.

Pearls, blue stones, and diamonds - all ok! Screams “bridal”, ya know? :)

If I don’t find anything super special, I’m thinking maybe some pearl studs from Tiffany’s.

Anyways, thanks for keeping your eyes peeled for me! Much appreciated!

I'd try to find something from Pearl Paradise in white gold. They have bracelets, earrings, and pendants.

I love this and it's white gold and on sale:

This one also comes slightly smaller in white gold at just under $200:

And a little less with a freshwater pearl:

Bracelets:

Those pendants are lovely!

I was going to suggest Pearl Paradise but DS beat me to it. They have several beautiful items in your budget and having purchased from them in the past, I can say that I've always been pleased with my purchases.

There's a bezel diamond pendant on DB I like.

Have a look at David Klass on Etsy. He has a few gold stacking rings under 300 USD. Maybe she could use it to stack with her ER.

My links were all white gold. I hope she meant white metal. White gold is just going to be easier to maintain than sterling. Plus it falls more into the fine jewelry category.

Yes, my thoughts exactly. And definitely you can get white gold within that budget.:appl:

I agree with DS Pearl Paradise and a white gold is going to last longer than silver and still be in your budget.

My immediate thought was Pearl Paradise when I read 'pearl studs from Tiffany's. I love pearls & my purchases & the customer service from PP has aways been spot on. That link Missy posted of those 7.5 Hanadam Ayoya studs looks like a great value. If not to your liking, you can always call PP & they will help you find something you like, send pics etc. They are very accommodating.

Wow wow wow I am LOVING all of these options!!! You guys are the best!

Yes - sorry, silver in colour, but definitely looking for white gold. I should’ve just said white gold, because platinum is NOT in my budget :lol-2: lol

I’m going to look at these options in great detail (you guys are THE BEST!) but tell me - does pearl paradise have pretty packaging?

And now I’m going to creep my friend’s Facebook to see if she wears necklaces or earrings more.

I have only ordered earrings but they are in a hinged earring box (like a ring box but for earrings).

Although I've never bought Tiffany for myself, there's a great wow factor about it for a ~$200 gift IMO. I got the sterling knot earrings for my matrons of honor. I looked for more unique and/or valuable (stones, gold) options but 1) I didn't find anything I was sure would be the right style, and 2) I thought both would actually feel more spoiled/pampered by the classic blue box experience than by a weirder thing I might find for them. So, I hope you find something unique but I think your backup plan sounds excellent too :)

OOOO what a wonderful friend you are! Congrats to your friend for her engagement and for having such a wonderful friend.

I have nothing really to add that other posters haven't already mentioned, though I would throw etsy in for just general jewelry, and there are a few things on the pre-loved forum that might fit the bill.

The PP packaging is pretty standard: the pearls arrive in a regular hinged box which has been wrapped in PP tissue paper. At times my 'pricier' items arrived in different looking boxes, but whatever the box, I'd still take at look at PP. Also forgot to mention this, once you 'land' on the pearl type, be it Akoya, South Sea or Fresh Water or whatever, they'll put together different pearl pairs for you to choose from, they are quite accustomed to picture requests, and will take the pics in different lighting environments (studio vs natural etc). Go over to the pearl forum (Pearl-Guide.com) & get yourself acquainted with everything pearl, that site serves the same type of function that PS does for stone lovers. I do love pearls, its addicting!!

Dang! My 7-7.5 Hanadama Akoya studs just sold! I sold them for $175, down from $345 when I bought them. My point being, if I sold them for under $200, you can probably find someone else who will, too. New, they're now down to $295 tho, so under your 300 limit. The Hanadamas are also all certified. A great gift, in my opinion.

Yes, they have very pretty packaging (hard sided box, not just in a pouch, or anything like that), and all their pearls come with cleaning cloths. And the Hanadamas come with a hard back folder with their certification and valuation in them also.

Oh glad it sold @mrs-b. It was a good deal.
@pearaffair I’m sure you’ll find something special. You have a good budget.

I wish I could snoop in my friend’s jewellery box! I’ve been creeping her Facebook, and it looks like she already owns a necklace just like the one diamondseeker suggested! Darn! No idea if it’s real or fake... but you guys totally have her style pegged!

Naivemelody- I totally agree on the wow factor of Tiffany’s. It’s making me lean towards an Elsa peretti aquamarine bezel bracelet... but I’m going to think on it.

@pearaffair, can you ask her mom about her jewelry? Maybe she knows? I would say ask her FI but guys can be clueless re bling. Not all guys but many.

I also agree with everyone suggesting Pearl Paradise. Hanadamas are wonderful and their akoyas are beautiful too. Even the Freshadamas are such nice pearls if you want a bigger look for your budget.

Honestly, I should've bought it (what a deal!) but I was worried about the chain length.

I also should've bought these awesome diamond studs that Niel found me... oops! Taking care of a baby is cutting into my jewelry shopping time! Haha jk. But honestly, I tell myself "ok I'll do that later!" and then two or three days pass by...

Anyways still looking so if you find anything lovely, let me know! If I could get her a diamond pendant or studs, I think that would be really special :)
