Hi everyone, this wasn’t on my agenda to buy now, but I was in a Jewellers last week and it caught my eye. I’m in Europe, so buying online from US can be a costly process at times with tax etc on arrival. But comparing this with online the price seems very reasonable.
I am colour sensitive so was always looking for a D-F in colour. This one in person very colour less. Photos show some reflection from gold band and store lights. The last photo is in natural light.
I would be getting it reset with a 6 prong setting and band in platinum.
So I am just wondering if it is as good or not as I think? I an happy enough with it. But would like the help.
Thanks

The numbers look good...none of the pictures are straight into the stone (they are at angles) so hard to tell anything from the
pics but you are seeing it in person. What do you think? Can you ask to see it outside...or at least outside of the jeweler's lights?

Hi,
Thanks. I saw it in person, I was looking at something totally different, so had a look at this, but not for that long. It was pretty much colourless. It just kept coming back to me, and as I am a distance away from it I am trying to do things by photo. The last photo was taken in daylight, and I have a video, I'll see if I can upload that or take screenshots from it. I have asked for some handshots, so hopefully they will come later. It seems to hard to give up. The current setting is a 4 prong platinum, and yellow gold band. They will reset with a 6 prong Tiffany style setting and a platinum band for the same price, which is pretty good. And as local, no import tax, but it is still less than purchasing from the US or even James Allen Europe.

Sorry, I can't get rid of the text info pic, its public information, so not an issue with that, more it's not what I intended to post! And now I can't delete it.

I found and saw videos of this diamond on the seller's site...it's immaculate. No weird color hues and no issues with the diamond material.

Thank you! I have it on hold, and am going back to see it again. They will reset it for me, which I will get done if I go for it.

How did you find it? I haven't been able to locate it online?

Since you have it on hold, I'll post the link. Found it while searching for videos based on the grading report number.

Hi, that’s interesting.
I have physically had the set stone in my hand. And that’s in a shop in Ireland where I live. It wasn’t from whiteflash i saw it at all. That’s why I asked. It was t on the stores website, I thought you had found it there

This is a bit odd??

Yes, quite odd!
Texas Leaguer (Bryan) can you verify availability and physical presence of IGI-LG578333370 in WF's inventory, please?

Think this may have been my error. There was another email with that cert, so I think I uploaded the wrong cert. there was a problem with the pictures in the first post. So yes the above is whiteflash.

This is the one I am looking at

I don't love the proportions on this.

In what way? What could be better, if I am to reconsider this?

For a ring I prefer pavilion angles of 40.6-40.9. The proportions in the first report you posted were perfect, actually.

Agree with @Kim N - id recommend that you stay away from diamonds that have overly shallow pavilion angles for a ring setting.

What impact will it have on the Diamond when set?

Over-obstruction, causing the center area under the table to appear dark at just about all viewing angles.

Based on photos do you think it’s worth going back to see again in person, or just start again?

Can your jeweler provide video in various lighting conditions?

I have one video, but it won’t let me attach it. I can go up and see it tomorrow and take some then hopefully. It’s a hard call from a distance, and I only saw it very quickly the first time .

You'll need to upload the video(s) to a hosting site such as Imgur or YouTube then paste the links here in your thread. :)

Ah, now it makes sense. I was looking at the pics and thought it had a rather large table then looked at the report and it said
56%...hum, thought my eyesight was failing me.

The numbers really arent great on this one.:(2

If it were me, I would find a new stone. There are many better ones out there.

Thanks to all for the input, but as someone who is learning as I go, this looked ok to me when I saw it, what am I missing??
I will see more tomorrow, what do i need to look for? The cert had said excellent cut, so what am I missing?? Thanks!

If possible, try to compare it side by side to a diamond (natural or lab) with similar color and clarity that has proportions and angles in the following ranges.

Pavilion angle: 40.6-40.8
Crown angle: 34-35
Table: 54-57

So, I had a look. It’s a no go. 2 reasons, first looking at it from top down, on its own or with other diamonds, there was a rather flat, dead spot in the centre, that’s the only way I can describe it. And this was with three other slightly smaller diamonds all set in yellow gold. And then second the E colour, when seen with D, whether on its own or a combination with the reasons above there wasn’t as much sparkle from it. That’s the best way I can describe it. They can source other diamonds, but I may now be better doing this from another retailer. As even sourcing the stones there would be a deposit, and I wouldn’t get to see any info till they had arrived.
Disappointed, but I think better off. I’ll be back again with another Diamond I think.

Sorry that it didn't work out but I can tell you I'm a bit relieved that you were able to see the over-obstruction and dead center area caused by the extremely shallow pavilion angle.
It'll be worthwhile at the finish line.

Yes, this diamond is from our Precision Lab brand, all of which are physically in-stock and fully vetted.
