Hello all,

I am in the process of shopping for a ~1CT Pear Shaped Lab Grown Diamond for an engagement ring.

The jeweler who will be making the ring for me has let me know that he has these 2 stones readily available (I am going in to see them on this Monday).

I would like to solicit some feedback from this forum's experts/enthusiasts in regards to these 2 stones.
Essentially are they good stones, and are they a good value, or is there anything concerning that I should be aware of?

I want to select a diamond that is very clear (no cloudiness), has no yellowish/brownish hues to it, and has great fire and sparkle (apologies if these aren't the proper technical terms, you know what I'm trying to say...) Looking for ~1CT, Colour F or better, Clarity VS2 or better, and near the best cut available.

Here are the two stones he has available:

Both are priced at $2200 CAD (or ~$1650 USD)

Thank you all for any feedback

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, new_learner321!
The proportions and angles are quite a bit out of bounds for what we consider recommended and safe. Definitely have them assessed with an ASET or Ideal-Scope (not to be confused or substituted with a Hearts and Arrows scope) to ensure proper optical performance and peace of mind.

I wasn't able to find the first diamond online, but here's a link to the second diamond, for the pear experts on the forum.

Oh wow great find. Can't believe the markup he is trying to charge me for the stone... Is this typical?
Cost from the website you found ~936USD*1.33 exchange rate x 1.13 tax =~ $1405CAD vs the $2200CAD he said my price is.

Seems nuts, as I recall when I bought a car a few years ago, the car was ~$32,000, and the dealer made ~$700 profit from that huge purchase.

Great idea, I managed to find this video:
And he made the same recommendation regarding paying a lot of attention to the ASET picture so see how much light is escaping/dark spots.
I hope he has one handy so I can take a look. Otherwise I may try to buy my own.

Ya know, my mistake...I completely missed that these were pear cut, so proportions and angles aren't the same as they are for MRB/RBC. Definitely get ASET images if you can, but pears and most other fancy shapes are best assessed by the buyers eyes, most of the time.
