If you''re looking to trade up - excel requires 50% again. ERD''s webpage is down, I don''t know their upgrade policy.

I would look at WF''s ES & ACA lines that have no trade-up timelines or requirements on how much more you need to spend.

I believe ERD's was 40% more

Whiteflash has nice diamonds but you have to start at a certain color H, SI or better and with that limitation I could only start with a 1.0 carat.

How about HPD, if you're open to rounds/princesses? They have an awesome upgrade policy on the infinity line:

www.highperformancediamonds.com

All the colour and clarity choices in the spectrum, 80% lifetime buyback, and most importantly lifetime tradeup to a more expensive stone - they don't specify how much.

Edit: if you're happy with excel/ERD by all means go with what makes you most comfortable. I'm just throwing it out there since you mentioned upgrading is important

Autumn, we actually don''t have limitations on upgrades related to color or clarity.

Our ACA and ES stones automatically qualify for trade-up for 100% of purchase price (less shipping) toward any stone of greater value.

Our Premium select stones and virtual stones may also be eligible; these requre approval at time of purchase.

I hope that helps to widen the net for you! :-)

Wow, a 2 ct diamond for $5,000? The thought makes me dizzy with desire. . .should I sell my car?
