I think you should let Leon source the stones. He obviously buys them all the time for his settings anyway.
He might want to go that route anyway.

I still think you should skip the necklace, and let the dress and earrings put on the show.

That is quite a necklace. Are you thinking of it, Sharon?

No probs.

By the way, I was reading the Who''s Who earlier today and saw you grew up in Australia. I lived there for six months back in 2000 and have been homesick for it since. It''s a great place.

that bulgari piece is interesting. Personally that bulgari link is not my taste, but that is not the point. I would worry how it lays on one''s neck. It is a stiffer piece in places and may not lay right. I tried on many necklaces before I bought the one I did, because some fit well and some did not. I would hesitate to buy where I could not try things on.

I agree with Ellen on wearing the dress and earring without a necklace. But if a necklace must be had the 3 prong, simple one is a great choice.

Harriet just my opnion but no necklace . The killer earrings and perhaps a cuff and your solitaire

I went to school there, but did not grow up there. It is indeed lovely.

El, Addy, Katebar,
No necklace = More gems!

Chrono, FireGoddess, Sharon,
Sorry to disappoint you all, but Scarlet and I looked at that Bulgari piece and it''s not terribly attractive.

Report:
A thin Riviera won''t be cost-effective for Leon to make. So, unfortunately, he''s out. I''m waiting for quotes from Mark and WF.

Oh, sorry for the mix-up. I hope you get some good news from Mark or WF!

No worries.
I hope so too. I did get a good quote from Facets/Signed Pieces. Isaac is a hoot.

I tried on a few necklaces and am trying to choose between: (1) a Riviera, where the stones are graduated; and (2) a tennis, where the stones are identical. I wonder which of the two is less prone to flipping or turning. Any insight here?

Seems the graduated would be less likely to turn or flip since the heaviest stone will be weighing it down in the front.

Regarding cut - H&A aren''t necessary on smaller stones, but anything over 30 pts. each should be very well cut! The Robert Coin pendant in my avatar sparkles like crazy, but when I look at the melee under my H&A viewer it has light leakage. Hopefully you can view the stones before they''re set.

I think a Riviera is going to lay on the neck better and be less prone to flips. However, that style, both Riviera and tennis are prone to flipping for the most part.

I personally love the riviera styles with graduated stones. I love them when they are delicately bezeled with milgrain...my favorite style of diamond necklace. I think you get more bang for your buck with riviera styles because you have bigger stones in the front. I''m not sure about flipping, but I''m guessing tennis styles would be worse because everything has an even weight. With a riviera style the added weight at the bottom might help keep it in place, but I bet it would probably flip from time to time as well.

It makes sense that a Riviera will be less prone. Of the ones I''m considering, the smallest "anchor" stone will be 0.4 ct. I''m not sure if that will be heavy enough.

MC,
Thanks for weighibg in about the melee cut.

DF,
You''re one to speak! Beside, this will be in my lai see from you.

i''d stay small riviera and keep it simple. i know i am not with most here but i find miligrain busy. did the try on trip help you decide the tcw you want? if you decide it is not too much to share size and price for facets i would be interested. they have done several things for me and i have been pleased. i am hoping you get a great necklace.

Hi Crown 1,

I know I want something of 8 tcw tops. Let me check with Isaac whether he minds his quote being made public. Glad to know you''ve been happy with his work. I forgot to mention that I had a great time with Mark as well.

not to worry about the quote. i had not thought of it in that vein.

Oh yes ! Your earrings are absolutely stunning and your evening dress with its beautiful neckline is an ornament in itself...I would drop the necklace for the wedding and save up for a bigger piece next year
