Forgive me, SKR, but I just gotta ask....why are you set on black pave/accents?
Have you seen a similar solitaire ? Did you love it? Are you quite sure your wife would love it?
I guess I''m asking because your thinking is pretty far ''outside of the box''...sort of risky especially when putting together a surprise for someone else...just a thought..
Widget and LienT - your probably right, my black diamond fetish needs therapy. Better to go safe on this one - risking the black paving for our 10th anniversary is not the way to go.
I will do the black diamond thing another time - I have found a 1.9ct princess which I may just tuck away and give to her on her birthday.
Any other opinions on the I colour 4.13ct stone ? If I get them to bring it in house what kind of things should I be asking / requesting ? I will obviously post everything here.
Man!! your wife is one lucky lady!! First a 4 carat ring and now another 2 carat stone! WOWWWW!!
The stone looks beautiful in the picture but you''ll HAVE to see in person and ask the seller if they can show you some other stones of the same shape and size. I am sorry I don''t know much about this shape (maybe some experts can help here), but trust YOUR eyes and do compare it against other similar stones. Learn to use the loupe and look for any obvious inclusions (for example a dark carbon spot in the table that you can see with the loupe - or worse without). Look for the dark "bow-tie" effect or more accurately the absence of one.
Whew! I''m glad you''ve decided let go of the black diamonds for this particular treasure...I was a little worried!
I really don''t think ANYONE here can tell you too much about that stone based on the picture and even the cert. I think eyes have to be the judge...especially for a pear shaped diamond.
Since you''re working with such a respected and trusted vendor (WF), I think you can be VERY comfortable with the accuracy of their assessment of the stone once they''ve seen it IRL.
I''d personally would want to be assured that it is not as yellow as it appears in the picture, and I''d want to hear about the bow tie...
I too am glad to hear you have put the black diamonds idea on the back burner. I just think they would do nothing for the gorgous pear you will be getting. I would ask them to describe the inclusions to you. Since you are overseas, I don''t know how it would work but I would inquire about them shippping it to an independent appraiser before you decide to buy. I thought you were working with a different vendor because a few other companies have that diamond listed as well. WF has a ten day return policy, not 30.
Ok thanks everyone - I take your comments on board and will construct a list of questions. I have also got another pear in mind but will post on here once I get more details.
Do WF do the tiffany style ring that I have posted ?
Ok I have another picture (x40 magnification), and idealscope image and sarin. All below. WF have confirmed that the stone has minimal bow tie. All opinions (positive and negative) greatfully received. Thanks
and I thought Brits thought diamonds over a carat were austentatious?? So glad it isn't true
I am in awe of how you are buying such an amazing 10th anniversary gift. we have been married 3 yrs and there is nnooooooo way this type of gift will be happening at 10 years. or 20. lol
I am glad you have chosen a pear. Such an elegant shape. Would you consider blue sapphire sidestones? I just see sapphires as such a classy compliment to a diamond, and in a pear....hmmm delish.
My other choice would be a halo setting , like Firegoddess's or a split shank, like diamondlil's...
