It's pretty though.

I want to find a halo setting that has a little more character than the standard HW. Anything else you can think of?

also how do you feel about colored halos? it would combat whatever questions you have about.color

Bob Levine of Levine Design created a gorgeous custom ring in platinum for me that is very similar to your picture. His work is the best, and because he's in Pittsburgh, you won't be paying NYC prices.

This might be a long shot, but you could e-mail the photographer and ask him/her if he/she would be willing to pass your question along to his client. The bride may be happy to share the name of the designer with you. Or is this a celebrity wedding or something so over the top that the price of the setting is likely to be way over your budget?

The thing you posted said "Sweet Ruthies Engagement Ring." So I googled exactly that phrase. The original instagram thread from josevilla popped up. A woman with a nickname with the word "ruth" in it thanked her for the compliments on her ring. I clicked on that person, and the profile popped up.

That's right you have the pretty antique cushion. Okay. Yellow or Rose. Cool. Personally, I'd call Steven Kirsch up and ask him to create something for you out of rose gold, for your stone and send him some inspiration pics to work from. Give him a 4800 budget and have him propose back few options with sketches.

I think VC's work is great. I suggested SK because I know his pricing better. With VC you would have to pay sales tax up front. But I KNOW VIctor is great to talk to so give him a call, let him know your budget and see what he can do for you. I know he would be happy to give you some time and a quote.

Also there are cost cutting things that you can do. Less melee on the shank... so not eternity (which, really is best for sizing anyway), but like pave stopping at 4 and 8 o'clock on the shank. Stuff like that can make custom more affordable. Also using full cut melee (which is what i have in mine now). And using the rose gold instead of platinum. So just make sure you tell him you need 5k inclusive of tax and everything out the door.

I think it's DEFINITELY worth a call/email.

I don't think that's very fair to the original owner. Sure it was a custom setting, but she is entitled to feel like she doesn't want anyone to be able to replicate it exactly. No use bashing hers.

OP, I think a Bev K would be a great alternative...I've seen some yg Tacoris that look very similar as well!

I'm fairly certain it is that bev k based on the Vs in the halo and the way the shank meets the halo. And I know they are open to alterations, so its not reaching to assume they would do a cushion halo for her.

I agree the shank is a tad weird. Its the same on the bevk which is why I think its that. Its like the entire shank is next to the halo, bot tucked under at all

I think it's totally fair if she doesn't want to share any info. She has no idea who I am, or that I'm interested in a custom ring. I really am just curious to see how the head attaches to the shank. But honestly, it's the details in the pave that I like, and I can see enough of that from the picture Jose Villa posted.

I think she may have channel set diamonds on the shank? And it's the two sides coming together? Not my favorite - and not something I would incorporate - but I still love the overall look of the ring!
