I have found two cushion diamonds locally, one I have seen the other I haven''t. The first one looked nice but I don''t have alot to compare it too. I have read up on the cut and I understand you can''t neccessarily pick them from paper and need to see them in person but I can honestly say, I don''t know what to look for other than the clarity and color. Any help and opinion would be greatly appreciated.

It is true that liking a diamond in person means a whole lot, but based on the numbers alone diamond number 1 has a pretty big table and depth, so it is facing up smaller than it should. My cushion is 1.08 and it has larger dimensions than this one. Ideally you'd want to stay around the 50s for the table and in the 60s for depth. Also, the polish and symmetry is rated as good, which isn't very...um....good. lol. I would stick to at least a "very good" or "excellent".

Diamond number 2 is better with the Very Good polish and symmetry, but again, the table is huge.

So, in sum, my advice would be to search for a diamond with a table in the 50s, a depth in the 60s, and polish and symmetry both at either very good or excellent. And if you have a hard time finding it locally, give Mark a call at Engagement Rings Direct. A lot of us pricescopers have gone through him and he is known as the cushion guy for a reason. He always finds the best ones!
