When I lived in Suffolk county I would go to Rocky Point jewelers. What I liked is that they had an independent certified appraiser who was not an employee of the store and did appraisals by appointment only. I would sit with him and watch him do it and he would explain to me as he went. I was very happy with the appraisals he did for me. I don''t know where you live in LI but the store is located in Rocky Point. They have another store in Stony Brook but he does not go there. I am blanking on his name and am not at home now to look it up.
