Let's post pet photos!

DSH stands for domestic shorthair :)

HI:

I have always enjoyed this threads! And the pets names and captions are totally charming--I just about spit wine on my computer when I read "floofy feets"

cheers--Sharon

Great photos, I find pets so hard to photograph - usually as soon as I get the camera out whatever it is i'm taking a picture of comes up to investigate.

Hahaha, I am so familiar with that problem. I have a million pictures of twitchy little noses being shoved into the camera lens.

Your cat Claude is soooo cute and looks so soft. What kind is he?

Thanks, he is a British Shorthair, we will be getting him a little friend over the summer so I am hoping he wasn't set on being an only cat!

Gosh, all these animals are so beautiful! I have to say that PSers have the best looking pets! I wish I could hug all of these animals in person but for now I am sending all of them virtual hugs!!

I think I posted most of my pet pics but here are a few that might be new.

And Mimi! After almost a year of being without my Molly, I finally feel ready to move on. I've decided to adopt Mimi, another miniature schnauzer. She was also born on 9/14 (albeit in 2002 and not 2009) but it felt like a sign that she was right for me. She was saved from a puppy mill raid in Alabama and we're currently working out the logistics on how to get her to Florida. She'll be 10 this year, about the same age as my cat.
I saw your story here in the hangout section. I was also a little scared to read the whole thing at first cause I was worried it would be too sad. I'm rooting for you as far as the adoption process goes. Mimi looks very sweet and your cat has some amazing green eyes.
Thank you! Darwin does have the most beautiful eyes.

Congratulations audball and wishing you the best of luck in this process. I also was too afraid to open that thread and am glad it is working out. Sending you lots of good luck dust and love.

Ooh! I wanna play! Here's my handsome boy, Pixel. He's turning 10 in May. These were taken a couple of years ago. I think he was 7 or 8.

http://i992.photobucket.com/albums/af47/ravenne14/Pixel01.jpg

We think he literally has 9 lives. Well... 7 now. Lol. When he was about 6 months old, he liked to hide in the car engines and on the tops of the tires so we'd always have to make sure we knew where he was before we started the cars. Well one day me and mom were in a hurry and weren't thinking. Turned on the car, and we saw orange fur fly everywhere. :o  Of course she turns off the car immediately and we pop the hood and mom's looking around for him (I'm like.. 14 at this point so she's telling me to keep back and not look, etc). She can't see him so she runs inside for a flashlight. In a wild moment of rebellion, I start looking for him too and I see part of his face underneath some random car part I don't know the name of and I'm like "MOM! I see him!" And then he made a tiny move to lick his nose and I'm flipping out, yelling to my mom that he'salivehe'salivegethimout. LOL! To be honest, I don't remember actually pulling him out of the engine. God knows how we got to him (Mom drove a huge SUV with a deep engine). But the poor thing was in shock, barely conscious... and the back of his neck was completely hairless. At first we'd thought he'd burned the hair off on a hot part or something, but we figured out that he'd been under the fan blade, which thankfully was plastic, and not metal. Since it was plastic, it didn't break the skin, but it bruised the heck out of the back of his neck and shoulders. The vet told us to keep him inside until he perked up and to feed him american cheese and gatorade (no joke). The next day he was up and his normal cuddly, bright eyed self. We weren't entirely sure the hair would grow back, but it did. Took about 1.5 years though.

The second near death experience was when he was 1-2 or thereabouts. He'd stopped hiding in car engines (of course), but he moved to hopping up on the cars and then getting on the garage doors when they were up. Well, same story, Mom and I got in the car and left early one morning, I don't know if we didn't think to look or if we just didn't see him or what.. But we were gone all day and that afternoon we went to let me take my driver's permit test. While I was taking the test, Dad came home and called Mom to tell her that Pixel had gotten caught in the garage door when it came down. He said the garage was like a horror movie (which is scarily a common thing in my family, now that I think about it. Yikes) and that Pixel had gotten himself free and dragged himself across the garage to hide in a cardboard box, leaving a trail of blood behind him. That's how Dad found him. He washed out all the gore before I got home and Mom told me what happened when I was done taking my test. Poor thing was in so much pain. :blackeye: We took him to the vet and they said it was a 50/50 chance that he was permanently paralyzed from the middle of his back down, but if he wasn't, we'd know soon. They kept him for two days to do some blood transfusions and stitch him up, and the 2nd day after he came home, he was hobbling around on all fours. Miracle healing cat. And we were saying how he'd just gotten his neck hair filled in and now his hold hind end was shaved.

He's a bit of a fraidy cat now (naturally... Can't blame him), but he's a total ladies man. He'll come up to any girl and beg for tummy rubs. DBF is the only guy he's ever not run from immediately, save for my dad. I told him he was "Pixel-approved." Lol. And the vets always say they're amazed he's an outdoor cat because he's healthier than most indoor cats they see.

He's huge too. Nearly 20 pounds of miniature tiger. But he's not fat. Proportionally, he looks perfectly fit. He's just larger than the average cat. I'm always amused how other people's cats look so tiny to me because I'm so used to him. =3 He's afraid of storms. When the weather acts up, I'd go out to the garage and sit with him until the thunder passed and he snuggles in as close as he can and hides his head between my back and the wall. Melts my heart every time. It broke me to have to leave him behind when I moved out of my parents' house. :(

Ok, I'll shut up about my cat now. LOL!

Claude would love to be as elegant and aloof as a Siamese, but his giant head and greedy nature always makes puts him more in the Garfield school of cool. You can see his big head in the pic below - part the reason why I love the breed so much. We are having another British Shorthair, probably golden tipped this time. BSH's are such laid back friendly cats, I am wholeheartedly a fan.

Hi Sharon :wavey:
Love the name Snuffy (loved the Sesame Street snuffaluffagus)!! If you have any photos I would love to see them...

Lottie, love Claude- so beautiful and regal!
Yenny, your Zoe is so precious!

Bobby was rescued the day he was about to be euthanized and I am not sure what he had to deal with before we adopted him but he is the most needy of our furbabies. He is also a bit schizo because in the middle of a lovefest he might just swipe you with his paws and nails! Ouch! But we know he isn't doing it to hurt us and I cannot help but wonder if he might have been hit/abused before we adopted him. He is much better now and rarely swipes us like that but still once in a while...He really is such a love and his hair is so so soft.

A few more bobby pics (I hate photos of myself but love taking photos of the furbabies-fortunately they love posing! :cheeky: )...

OMG I WANT A SCHNOODLE. That dog is just TOO cute.

Since I was posting so many pictures of Gwen earlier, I left my dog, Rory, out of the post. Dogs are weird. I wouldn't have one if my fiance hadn't come with one included - I never had dogs as a kid and don't "get" them. They are drooly and won't ever leave me alone. I mean, when I take a shower, Rory tries to come into it with me. Sorry but no, dog, not allowed. When I tell her that she gets really sad and curls up on the bathmat and looks at me like I'm the worst betrayer ever, how could I do such a horrible thing to her as to not let her in the shower with me. WHY? Why do dogs give that look? Whenever I have corrected the behavior of my bunny or of past cats, they looked at me either like "eff off, mothereffer, I do what I want," or "why is the human making noises? Silly human!" or "darn it, caught again!" Or else just blankness. But when I correct Rory, she gives me a look that makes me feel horribly guilty, like I was beating her or something instead of just saying no.

IMG_0663_0.jpg

IMG_0652.jpg

It's hard to get pictures of her because she's always wagging her tail so hard that her body shakes and she just looks like a weird blotchy blur in the pictures. So as a result she's sleeping in pretty much all the pictures I have of her.

Oh and her full first name is Rorschach because apparently when she was a puppy she looked like a Rorschach inkblot.

Those are very pretty cats. I know the elderly one is a dsh, but what are the others? is Maggie in one of those outdoor fenced in play areas?

The boys are Savannah cats -- Juba Kai, Maliik & Taji. Maggie is in a hammock in the boys enclosure. I'm having the patio screened in as we speak so they have more room and I'm trying to sell the enclosure.

I know less than nothing about cats, and have no idea what a "dsh" is (what is it?). I just wanted to say that I, also, was struck by the beauty of your spotted cats, Matata. Are those spots hallmarks of Savannah cats?

This thead is making me long to cuddle animals I never thought of owning, like bunnies, and want to go out and get myself another Golden Retriever like Farley. What a gorgeous boy he was! He was far lighter blonde than my Brit, who was a medium Golden, but he has that sweetness of expression that she had. I am so sorry for your loss, Farleysmom. And for yours, kefira. Your new baby, Riley, is adorable, Farleysmom.

All the pets are adorable!

Deb/AGBF
:read:

Thanks Deb -- Farley was such a beautiful and wonderful boy. He was our gentle giant. Riley has so many of Farley's wonderful qualities. For a pup of only 14 weeks old, he is so smart and surprisingly calm. We love him very much.

Everyone has such beautiful fur-babies. I just want to give them all a cuddle.

Not yet LOL. The thing is, he hangs out in the bathroom no one uses (we are lucky that we have 4 bathrooms in our apt) so that works out. Also, he is so huge (not fat but tall and seriously bigger than many small dogs) that his presence is hard to miss in any case.
