Thanks! It’s Burma according to AGL. Bought it uncerted from Gilded Lane years ago and sent it in for a report.

Apparently, these eggs were given by different family members each year.
So the number of eggs would grow over a person’s lifetime. Here’s more information from a jewellery historian Trond Norén Isaksen .
I also found that some such necklaces made their way to Christies..
More here, so I hope you can sleep well, @Daisys and Diamonds
@Avondale is this yours? Tell us more! I can’t figure out if the stones are blue or if they are white diamonds with lighting affecting the camera colours.
They're mine, yeah, but they currently aren't in my possession because they're with the jeweller to be made into a 3-stone ring. Been there for four months and I can't wait to have the finished piece already, uugh!
"Orange fluorescence" guy is a blue sapphire with colour zoning. The cut hides the clear part exceptionally well but it lights up in orange under LW UV.
The side stones are a couple antique baby OECs. They're white, estimated at about G-H, and both have blue fluorescence, although it's slightly stronger with one of them. I pulled them out of the earrings which now hold lab replacements.
He has fantastic color (and cut)! Typically, they have that sort of straw hue to them. This one is fabulous. Will you set him?
Yes, that's what drew me to this one. It's my only truly yellow yellow zircon. I have a good yellow-orange zircon. Also a pale brownish yellow and an orange-brown, both very flashy, but not saturated. (All posted before.) I plan to set it, but I have another project going at the moment.
Ooooooo when will we get a sneak peek of the current project?![]()
@LC2016, this thread prompted me to buy a bigger gem-quality rainbow moonstone cab - 14x12mm, 8.5ct. It's not as bright as @Mrsz1ppy's cab or your stone, but in direct sun, at the right angle, it's very intriguing:
Lit by the sky in front of a window, it can show a rainbow:
Like the specimen in my posts above, it has three schiller directions, a strong yellow at the side, a weak yellow on top, and blue at the side:
Like that specimen, it has polysynthetic twinning. But the orientation that causes the strong yellow schiller at the side makes up most of the stone. The other orientation (the one that causes the weak schiller at the top) is confined to a few thin planes. This causes some fascinating effects:
These photos, except the window photo, were taken in direct sun. In truth, most of the time and from most angles, the stone looks like a clear dome. But when it catches the light it's fascinating.
Hint:
Oh now I'm excited!! That is phenomenal (literally). Will you be backing the cab to really bring out the colors? When I set my schiller sunstone, we backed it with acid-free parchment paper within the bezel cup. Makes a world of difference with translucent/transparent cabs!
Current plan is a backing, textured (to reduce glare spots) and plated with black rhodium. But I'm interested in hearing from anyone on the practicalities. Will it still be too shiny? Will the 'black' rhodium be black enough? Paper seems ideal visually. But I'm wondering about cleaning, should it be necessary.
Ahhh gotcha! So you want it to be dark to bring out the adularescence... that makes sense. In my case, I wanted as white a backing as possible (even bright silver wasn't quite enough), which is why we used paper. Your jeweler should be able to do a matte black rhodium finish (not too much texture though, because this stone is so transparent, it might magnify it and be distracting). Once it's bezeled, I suspect you'll only need to clean it with a soft cloth. I wouldn't submerge it in anything, and I doubt it'll need it. Are you adding diamonds?
Yes, lit and viewed from most angles, the stone is a transparent colourless dome. I'm thinking that a black back will show the schiller better. Good point about the texture. I'm thinking brushed white metal (unusual for me, but better for a basically colourless stone), plain bezel, crosswise set, no diamonds. This will be a 'private' ring - other people viewing it will usually see just a transparent dome, but I will see the spectacular orange schiller.![]()
