Let's play a game... rainbow gems.

It is terrible of me but here is a new unheated 3.5 ct Mozambique ruby. I am drawn to reds and pinks.. I don’t have any Mozambique rubies - mine are all Burmese, plus one from Tanzania. So I bought a Mozambique just out of curiosity. One condition I set was that the stone must exhibit fluorescence.
That ruled out the majority of Mozambique rubies.
This one fluoresces and is purplish. Apparently, most fluorescent Mozambique rubies tend to be more purplish or rose red. This hue is reportedly the preferred red among younger ruby buyers in China (those in their thirties).
I bought it in June and haven’t decided what to do with it.

In the shop. The ruby is in the gem box. Other rubies in this pic all look purplish too.
ETA @mellowyellowgirl do you see the unset spinel cab?

That thing is a raspberry dreeeeeam!! And I think you were smart to make fluorescence non-negotiable. I've seen plenty of beautiful rubies without it, but it sure does make it special, which you already know because of your Burmese material. It's gorgeous, my friend. Big congrats!!

Since we always seem to get stuck on orange, I will take it this round. Sorry, I have no more fine orange gems to show. So here is some spiny oyster shell set with sleeping beauty turq (Native American)!

YELLOW, anyone?

Perhaps now the Grey's, whites. Blacks and briwns would like to show themselves?
On the way home tonight we gad very thunderous clouds and a huge rainbow

This made my day, love. Thank you for sharing it!!

Okay - I’ll help BUT this is the worst photo ever, taken just now. It’s winter, nighttime, raining and cold and I am at home in my pajamas. All that to say, no one is getting a nice neck shot…

This was a gift so not entirely sure but I believe it is antique, citrineIMG_9369.jpeg

Your post cracked me up! But the piece is lovely, with or without a neck shot!!

Thank you! Glad you approve. I love fluorescence in rubies and spinels, so that was a must for me. I got the stone for a good price and was unsure whether to keep it. I have had it for almost two months now so maybe it is staying?

Oooh, @Autumn in New England!
I love this striking colour combination. You have such unusual and meaningful pieces.
That’s definitely a statement necklace.:)
What is the size of the pendant? Looks fabulous.
