Let's play a game... rainbow gems.

I'm going to add a green, because we seemed to jump right past it.

This is the first time I've managed to take a representative picture of this big specimen, a large chunk of rock covered in glittering demantoid crystals. The pic below was taking using my iPhone under a studio light that my wife uses. Normally the phone camera mutes the green, but this time it caught the colour I see in person pretty accurately:

This piece is >15 cm across and weighs nearly 1.9 kg. It's from Afghanistan, from the Tani district in Khost Province in the southeast of the country.

I got this one at an outrageously cheap price because the seller thought it was olivine (peridot) from India. Naturally, I was going to let him keep believing that :twisted2:

This is a real fun thread to follow, love it.
I’m excited to contribute a blue. Lately I’ve been looking at my things with renewed appreciation. Probably because I will likely not be buying any gemstones I love due to soaring prices and my own unwillingness in scouring and spending endless hours and days which I happily used to do, in search of bargains.

Anyway, these are my blues IMG_8970.jpegIMG_8971.jpegIMG_8972.jpeg

If I may derail slightly… @Mrsz1ppy your chunky gold band and OEC stack is insanely delicious!!!

Please may I ask for the width of the band and/or the OECs?

ETA: are those rose cuts?

Of course you can! Thanks for noticing.

Yes, they are rose cuts. The center one has a 7mm diameter, as does the band.

I hesitated, because I bought a rose cut from one of the IG sellers, and it doesn’t have much sparkle. Took a chance on this one from Sin City Finds, and it has the wonk and hand cut sparkle I’ve been hoping to find.

This specimen has the most unique, cool wintergreen shade. So unusual for demantoid, compared to the typical yellowish-greens. Beautiful!

Thanks Autumn. That’s why I’m here for

Both stones are copper bearing cuprian tourmalines. The larger is 4.53ct always stays blue, and the smaller 2.51ct is bluish green though in certain light like above, it leans more bluish. Just the nature of them, which makes them all the more interesting.

When can we see your fab Opal again?
