Let it all hangout -- The Grumpies, whinies, complainies Get It Off Your Chest Thread....

Here I am 48 years old. I was the “it girl” as a teen. After a long term relationship ended, I was left without a thyroid at 34. I immediately started gaining weight. Then I went through early menopause and here I am 48, never married, no children, and getting ready to change my life with gastric bypass surgery. I’m still in the early stages but so far it’s looking good. Right now I can’t walk much outside or walk to friends. I get excruciating back pain that is unbearable. I know this will all change and I’m so eager to get this help, that the 4 month waiting period is really stressful. I’m going for testing of course, but in my mind I think that I’m already there. When I do that, I look in the mirror and get so discouraged. I wish I didn’t have to live the past 7 years trapped in my body. I can’t wait to break free!!!! I can taste the freedom.

My heart aches for you @waffle. Sending you best wishes for your upcoming surgery. Wondering though if you could be a candidate for the new weight loss drugs ie Ozempic? It could be an easier and perhaps safer route to your weight loss goals.

Thank you so much! I’m not a candidate. My blood sugar is fine. Plus it may cause thyroid cancer and pancreatitis and I have had both. I’m very excited about the surgery. Thank you for your kind wishes.

My husband bumped a blown-glass flamingo that was hanging on our calamansi tree in the living room, which was a gift to our daughter from her college Honors program director. (He collects ostriches; she collects flamingos, and they are forever sending each other little bird theme gifts.)
It took us an hour to clean up the tiny shards of broken glass.

I bought Easter candy for the ferals a week or so ago and hid it in the house so they wouldn't find it. If anyone has any idea of where I might have put it please feel free to scream 'em right out!

The female osprey on the nest at Hammonasset has a black plastic bag wound around her right foot and so far has not managed to get it off. She's shaken it, she's flown off several times but always returns with the bag still attached.

I saw it happening. She was trying to remove the bag from the nest and stepped into it. At one point if she had pulled her foot back she would have gotten it out, but she stepped forward instead, and now it's between her toes.

The male recently brought her a fish, so at least she is eating, but how can she fish with a bag on her foot?

Stupid human trash.:x2

The female is free of the bag!

At 9:36 a.m. she still had it on her foot, but when I looked at the two of them on the nest at 9:58 I didn't see it on her foot where it was previously. I wasn't sure at that point if it was really gone or whether it had just slid further up her leg where it was not visible from that angle. But there was (and still is) a small piece of black plastic flapping at the rear of the nest. So maybe it tore off.

And now the male has arrived on the nest and attempted mating. It is clear that the plastic is gone now.
That is her on the right.

Thank you for caring @pearlsngems
And (some) people suck

Thank you, Missy.
I love ospreys. They are such good partners to each other, and excellent parents. I've been watching osprey webcams in Estonia for over a decade and this is really consistent.

Meanwhile. ruby throated hummingbirds are migrating. Sightings have been reported north of Philadelphia and are approaching northern NJ. I'll hang my feeder by next weekend, or maybe even sooner. They are starving when they arrive and need food pronto.

Scroll down for 2024 migration map:

I was just thinking about looking at the migration map. I'm in New England so probably have a bit more time to put out the feeders, but not too long. I love it when the hummingbirds arrive!

I'm in CT and until last year I never saw Hummingbirds until early May. Last year they arrived earlier than I expected and were already sighted in our town by the time I put my feeder out.

I'm in MA and last year I saw them in late April, which like you, was earlier than normal. So this year I think I'll do it around the 20th of April thinking they'll be early this year too.

I was just sent an X-ray of my grandson's hand. Looks like two nasty metacarpal breaks on his dominate hand. Waiting to hear what happened. This will require surgery for sure and must be so painful.

I just hung out my feeder. Yesterday the hummingbirds had reached Long Island but today they are all over CT and already in parts of MA.

Thanks for the heads up. Feeders will go out today!

SO MAD at FedEx! Second attempt at delivery was expected today. I stayed home all day, tracked 50 times, no movement. Just "held at facility" . By 8pm, I called customer service who tells me it was not delivered because AI has duties to pay. But I NEVER received any notice about that!! HAD I known, I would have paid immediately in order to receive my package.

So I paid it, but tomorrow, no one will be home ‍♀️♀️

Can you have them hold it at the local facility for pickup?

FedEx is so problematic, to the point that unless I reallllly can’t live without something, I won’t buy from a business that ships FedEx.

In early March I ordered all plumbing/fixtures from Ferguson's. The sink was a special order but salesman said it would be ready by mid-May when bathroom templating for the granite for the walls was to begin and all other items were listed in stock. An "out of stock" notice appeared in my project file for the faucet 2 wks ago. Salesman assured me that meant it wasn't in local warehouse and would be shipped from another warehouse. Yesterday I got an email saying the sink and faucet would not be shipped until late June :eek-2:

I'm trying to cancel the order for sink/faucet. Found a faucet at Home Depot that will be an ok substitute, not great, just ok. Found the Kohler sink at Home Depot in the allegedly custom color I wanted and it will be here Saturday. The reno needs to start as scheduled as he already has his calendar booked with projects until late fall and that's why I was frantically scrambling around trying to find substitutes.

I'm glad you found acceptable substitutes and they certainly should let you cancel. I'd take it up to management if necessary since you were given assurances on delivery which isn't being met. Good luck.

Harvey Weinstein’s NY rape conviction was overturned today.

HI:

I resent/hate the upsell tactic.

Oh, so do I. It really is so irritating. Especially if you are calling customer service for help and it turns into a sales call to get you to spend more money.

I live in a community that is planned around a forest. We take our trees very seriously. We have rules protecting our trees. We are not allowed to cut down our trees unless they are dead or threatening our homes.

A neighbor whom I share a long fence line with recently moved. The new a-hole who moved in is cutting down the very large, old, glorious trees. All morning long the chainsaws have been roaring next door. I used to be able to see only trees and greenery on the other side of my back fence. Now I look directly into the person's ugly house. I'm so disheartened. And I can't take the sound of the roaring chainsaws anymore. I feel like I'm going insane listening to them destroy the forest.

I've called the township and the woman answering the phone is beyond stupid. We. Have. Strict. Ordinances. And severe fines. There is a procedure to stop this. But the woman I talked to seems incapable of even writing down the info I'm giving her correctly. I kept repeating the address and she kept repeating it back to me very garbled. And meanwhile the chainsaws roar on.

How sad. Walk back there and take some pictures/videos of the goings-on. You might need proof.

Does your town have a Conservation Commission? If so, that's who I would call. And if another stupid person (or the same one) answers the phone, look on the Town website and get the names of the members of the commission and call some of them to report this. And yes, photos and videos are a good idea.
My town has strict rules about removing trees within a wetlands buffer zone and you need a special permit to do that, even if that is within your property line. Is there a way to check to see if the new neighbor got a permit for this?

@RunningwithScissors
What if you print out/make copies of these rules and march on over there to have a word with this person?

I'm a hot head and I would be tempted to do this.

This makes me so angry. Why do people do this? Move to an area prized for the trees and greenery and destroy what’s on their land. I am so sorry you are looking at their house instead of a beautiful tree.

My neighbor in back cut all the small trees behind my fence which is set back from my property line. The trees were on my property!!!! I had mercy because her husband has dementia and felt sorry for her. Big mistake. Found out later she is a nasty piece of work.

We added trees in the back to replace the ones she cut down. The only thing that makes me happy is that she no longer uses her backyard after 10 a.m. because the sun beats down on their deck and yard now.

I purchased 2 drop ship inventory diamonds this week. One lab diamond on Friday and one natural diamond on Monday. I was so excited about the lab only to be let down two days later but then I found and purchased the natural. I was on cloud nine about the natural only to be let down again.
