All reasons I don''t deal with him.

If I hire someone to do a custom job, then it is by MY instruction that it should be done. Suggestions and ideas are welcome but I do not want to feel that I have no say and for someone to say your diamonds may not be good or your setting probably isn''t good quality without even seeing it really irks me. No Leon for me.

Ditto. Granted his work is impeccable and he is an artist and should be given some room and discretion to "make it happen"... but he has still been hired to do a job. No Leon for me either. I don''t deal well with attitudes and being talked down to. It seems he is quite fond of himself and has his head up his...

Very cool Wintotty! I look forward to seeing what you decide and the finished product! I also considered the r864 as well. It is a beautiful style. I decided what was most important to me was a pretty basket.

So it came down to the Heidy, or the 313 Ashley. After looking at my stone for a year, I decided I wanted to be able to see at least part of it, and maybe wear a band. I''m not totally sure how I will feel about
the 2mm width. I have always worn wider rings. It is a risk for me. I am sure what ever Leon comes up with for you will be beautiful.

I don''t think Leon is alone in his wanting things done how he feels is *right*. When I worked with Brian he had definite opinions about my setting choice. Probably for different reasons. But with Leon, he feels
he has put enough time and artistic talent in his designs, he wants and thinks his opinion should be respected. I get that. I can say one thing for Leon. He is consistent. He tells everyone the same thing.

I get why some people don''t think it is worth it to work with him. But the truth is, his designs and work are amazing. So if you want the beauty of one of his rings, or pieces, you have got to take the
whole package. Add the fact, that a lot of his designs are trademarked, and that kind of seals the deal for me. If I want the look, I need to get Leon to do it.

I received some pics of the design he suggested and I LOVE it! He told me that I don''t have to go with the setting he suggested but he really seems very excited about it and I can see why! The setting is nothing like what I was considering........it has channel setting, no pave work! I contacted Leon because I fell in love with his pave work, but the one he suggested looked really special, clean and I totally love it! I can''t wait to get it, and he''s been really wonderful to talk to. He is sending me a quote for matching band tomorrow.........

Please post some pics!

I am thinking about myself - I have a hobby where I make websites for dog breeders. I only take on work if the breeder listens to my advice and I will absolutely say no to a project if I don''t agree with their direction. I don''t want my name on something that I don''t agree with. I think Leon thinks the same way - he doesn''t want to be associated with something that he doesn''t find beautiful. Yes, we are hired to do a job but we don''t have to take the job if we don''t agree with it.

I don''t make the websites as a living .. it is simply a hobby so I don''t need to take crap for it. I think Leon has enough customers to keep him more than busy.

Probably not a popular opinion but just my two cents.

I agree. And may I say, Charmy, that you are a woman of many different sides. What a funny and charming hobby!

I would have to agree. I am a graphic designer and designed wedding invitations for years. I can''t even begin to tell you how many brides I turned down for the same reason. They''re hiring me because they like what I do, not because they want me to do something completely different from what I normally offer.

In the same respect though, I am not asking Leon to make drastic changes to anything (even though his pieces are all custom). I have only asked him to raise the diamond maybe 1-2mm''s higher than the setting I picked out. He outright says that changes can be made to his designs and I know others have requested changes too (to which he did). It''s just a little confusing I guess

Wintotty- I am glad he gave you a design that made your heart sing! That is so exciting! Can''t wait to see it. Is he making the band so you CAN wear them together, or do you not care about that?

I love the design that he does with the traps and step cuts channel set down the band. Ok, I pretty much love all his designs.

I am a little bit of a wierdo :P

I first started making websites for my own pets. Then breeder friends started asking me to make websites for them. I made a couple and then I was getting so many requests from strangers to make them dog websites. I don''t really have time for it so I turn most of them down no matter how much money they offer me.

Now - I am making wedding blog for myself.

oops.. ok this is off topic. Yes - low setting :)

cdn-your reset is great. How did you feel about the cost? I really like the style I picked (image 818) but I am not sure if it is worth double the price.

I think I am going to get the Ashley and see how it looks next to my 10pt. eternity band. The stones may be too large anyway, since the shank is 2mm, and the eternity now is 3.1. I had better go just one step at a time.

Here is a photo of the Ashley basket. It is on page 3 of his solitaires. It has a brown 4ct oval. It is 3 sided paved with double claw prongs.

The cost was quite reasonable. Now I'm questioning whether he made a mistake.

I love the Ashley setting. The basket is

Thanks! CDN! I will have to revisit the idea after I get the Ashley. BGD does a prong set starting at 950., and it looks like Leons is 2K for the setting. I have a 2mm band, or I could purchase a 1mm from
Etsy. Maybe I could get used to wearing a e-ring alone.

Tomorrow, hubby is going to drive to our credit union and get a check for Leon. Then I will have to pack up my sparklie. I''m already having separation anxiety. I looked to see how high the ashley is set, so
I don''t think I will broach the subject with Leon. I will just let him do his thing.

I really would like it set about the height of my e-ring now, but I can let that one go, I think.

I remember a poster in the past had a Leon, three stone, tapered baguette sides and she requested that the height on the e-ring be raised to accomodate her wedding band. That poster did not like the result. I recall the shoulders of the side stones needed to be lifted and created a gap. Does anyone else recall this thread?

Leon''s probably asking you how many milimeters high would you like the e-ring. How high is your wedding band? Whatever it is, it''s likely going to be higher than Leon''s donut base and will rub against the swoopy prongs. Decide if that''s okay with you and maybe just go for it (and let Leon do what he does best).
I found the thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-leon-3-stone-e-ring-is-finished.84338/ It was Emeraldfan''s ering by Leon that she wanted to sit flush with her w-band.
