Ditto!

probably a dress from Le Chateau that I bought for a work party.. it was about 110$ probably. My wedding dress was around 95$ - it was from a small independent store in B.C. - no idea the ''designer''

under $100 from Macy''s

My wedding dress was Badgley Mischka, originally $895. I paid around $450 for it.

Next closest would be...$200 Ralph Lauren Bright blue silk ruffle-y thing. Paid $100 something for it. Most of my dressy dresses are $150 or so. I do have a black velvet evening gown that was originally $400 and paid about $125 for it...back in 1998. Yay prom!

I''d venture to say that for about 90% of (married) women, the most expensive dress they own is their wedding dress.

My weddig gown and custom made qipao for the wedding, both were around $530.

The next dress is probably one of my BCBG Max Azria cocktail dresses. They usually around $250-$350. I don''t remember the prices of them because I buy a new dress for every wedding I attended.

good thread DF

Wedding dress-- I think it was $700-800 something but my mom paid for it.

Other than that-- omg I hate dresses. hate.

I don''t own a dress right now. In between sizes, just got rid of old fat clothes, old skinny dresses out of style and too small. In between right now. If I have somethingto dress up for, I''ll got out and buy a dress. Its been AGES since I have worn a dress.

I don''t own my wedding dress anymore, but yes, the was by far he most expensive dress I have owned in my lifetime.

Black Chloe evening gown. It''s probably what you''d call vintage now, but I''m going to get my money''s worth. It''s my favourite ever.

My wedding dress, an Alfred Angelo, was about $700. My 2nd most expensive dress is from Affliction and was $380, I believe.

My wedding dress. It''s a Casablanca and cost me about $1000 with alterations.

I love dresses and gowns and never pass one up if I love it. As such, I am too embarassed to say what my most expensive dress is. I haven''t purchased my wedding gown yet so who knows if that one will beat it.

My wedding dress was the most expensive. But, keep in mind that I married in Vegas, so my dress wasn''t a conventional dress or super expensive. It was *black* and had little roses on it. lol!

It was by Betsy Johnson. My friend and I went shopping in Seattle and that was the cutest dress by far and I still have it somewhere around here.

HI:

Aside from wedding gown; dresses, suits by Dolce and Gabanna and Prada.

cheers--Sharon

Vivienne Westwood.

Amount: obscene.

My wedding dress, it was a Priscilla of Boston. I forget how much, that was ages ago!!

Dina Bar-El silk evening gown in emerald green - $575 (on sale from $1325)
Sue Wong silk and beaded evening gown in ivory - $365 (on sale from $1150)
Unknown Designer silk, beaded and ruffled evening gown in peach - about $300 that I bought in Mexico
Various Calvin Klein evening gowns - approx $200/each

DH and I attend anywhere from 3-6 black tie events a year and we have a ball that we attend/co-host (he is a member of the organization that hosts the ball) each year.
I am always on the look out for evening wear and if DH sees something that he likes, he always buys it, as well.

HOWEVER, he owns multiple tuxedos as well (Jones New York, Hugo Boss and most recently, an Emmanuel Ungaro tux) and he also owns a dinner jacket. We always pick up silk vests and ties or suspenders or cuff links or stud sets! He has full stud sets in both yellow and black gold, mother of pearl, sterling silver, etc...AND he hates it when his white tux shirts start to look "dingy" so we are always on the prowl for those as well and again, he has wing-tip and full tie tux shirts, those with narrow pleats and shirts with wide pleats! It''s not just me, DH likes to look good, too!

I agree...it''s most likely the wedding dress for most women!!

Mine was about $3K with alterations--it was a sample sale dress and retailed at $5,200. It was the one splurge I figured was all for *me*...wedding expenses often end up being about everything else (outside the couple).

After that it''s a $1000 Rodier black cocktail dress. Another splurge from my single days..wore it to a charity function in nyc and really wanted to go all out. I wore it to a few evening weddings too. God I hope I can still fit into it...not so sure with this post preggo body..

I have a really expensive suit, but I don''t buy terribly expensive dresses. Even my wedding gown was only $250. I just am not loyal to clothes in the same way I am shoes and bags, so I can''t justify the expense. Plus, my lifestyle rarely requires evening attire. Most of my dresses are from stores like Anthropologie or second-tier designer lines (like Marc by Marc Jacobs).

MINE TOO! It was off-white satin with big puffy long sleeves (yes, bridal dresses used to have sleeves!).

I''m not married, the most expensive dress I own that I can think of right now is a Michael Kors black dress for ~$300-400.

Are we making our way through all of the luxury items now?

Excluding my wedding dress (less than 1000 including alterations), a prom dress (119 marked down from 400), and assorted bridesmaid dresses in the 125-215 range), the most I''ve ever spent on a dress is probably 60ish. Usually, if I need a dress, I go to Ross Dress for Less or TJ Maxx. Case in point, the last time I bought a dress, I actually got two of them, and I spent a grand total of $15--one of them was only $3! My weight fluctuates too much to justify spending a lot of money on ANYTHING.

A $56 red dress from a Ross-style Ebay seller. It retailed for about $300, according to the tag still attached.

Haven''t bought a wedding dress yet but I''m hoping not to spend too much so I have a feeling my most expensive dresses will probably be both my prom dresses. I LOVED them both but I do feel a bit guilty at their price:usefulness ratio. Jr. prom dress was a steal. I actually saw it in a magazine the year before I was going to prom and fell in love with it and then happened to see it on clearance at jessica mcclintock in the fall of my jr year in my size
9.gif
so I got a $450 dress for $120. I''ve actually thought about repurposing it as a wedding dress but I''d have to turn the back into a lace up back because it currently doesn''t zip (certain womanly areas have filled out a bit since jr year). My senior year prom was one of the few times I''ve EVER splurged on myself, seriously I am way too frugal. My dress was a little over $300. My parents paid for it and my mom refuses to let me shorten it to make it wearable for weddings and such. I think she''s being silly but she''s convinced I''m going to need a floor length dress for something.

I don''t think I''ve paid more than $40 for any of the dresses I wear these days.
