I enjoy receiving compliments on my jewelry, from women or men.

I usually say thanks and then may reply with more details about the piece.

I am also comfortable complimenting others if I like a piece they are wearing.

Jewelry is a fun topic to discuss and share!

This is how I feel about it too. I like it when people genuinely compliment me in general and I am free with true compliments as well.

I think it's awesome! I haven't gotten complimented on it being a pear, but I wouldn't be weirded out by it! have gotten compliments from complete strangers! The "weird" one was at work I was discussing the cost of labor for a particular job and he (the man who did the job) told me that it's a beautiful diamond. It was only weird because of the context of the situation. I don't like talking money then having my diamond brought up. :? Maybe that's just me.

The best was in the elevator, a woman said, "Did you just get engaged? It's so sparkly!!" I was grinning for the rest of the day after that,

I once complimented someone on her bag which led to her confession that it was a fake one. Awkward! DH ordered me never again.

I'd be surprised and give him kudos for knowing his diamonds, and probably have a mini convo on diamonds. :loopy:

Most of the compliments I have gotten are from girls. There was a gentleman in his 50's at a car dealership said "that is a nice car on your little finger" while pointing at my ring.

That's how DH describes diamonds and watches too!

The only man (outside of jewelers) who's ever complimented my e-ring (which was before my upgrade, btw) was a Jiffy Lube attendant while i was getting my oil changed. LOL His comment was pretty off-putting however. He said "That's a beautiful ring. Your husband must love you very much" :nono:

I enjoy getting compliments on my rings, and get just as many on my RHR as I do my e-ring. I tell everyone who compliments them about BGD and how I designed the settings myself. It usually leads to a fun conversation about jewelry.

I guess I would just say thank you!

The only man who ever complimented my ring was the guy who owns the Chinese restaurant I go to - I've been going there for years, so we're on friendly terms. He made a big fuss over my ring and called his niece from the back to look at it, very sweet! She didn't seem as impressed with it haha!

It has only happened once!

I was paying at the 7-11 convenience store and chatting with the clerk, and he said, "Nice Diamond! Biiig carat!!" and I smiled and said, "Thank you." I appreciated his compliment. He was happy and smiling when he said it.

If a guy commented on my e-ring, I would react by saying thanks, but I would definitely think that it was strange.

I'm never going to stop handing out compliments just because some people are weird and can't handle it. Now, if I'm by myself in a vulnerable situation and some intimidating dude gets within my personal space eyeing up my jewelry... That's another story. But since I'm not one to usually put myself into those situations, I'm pretty happy when someone compliments my ring.

This.

Guys sometimes comment on my ring. I think it's because it's got a blue stone. It's much more confusing to men than to women. Women comment on it much, much more though.

WHY do people think it's acceptable to say that? I usually answer with "No, he just loves me the regular amount but makes a lot of money." Then THEY feel awkward and I am entertained.

... which I'd consider a compliment.

Normal is overrated.

 Too funny! But, that is how they think. Some of those sales people have worked all kinds of places: jewelry, pharma, cars, building materials, sold all kinds of things.
