I tried on rings from both designers recently. Actually they were the only two designers I tried that day!
In terms of quality both are outstanding (which of course is reflected in the price of the settings) and the workmanship that goes into the settings is superb.
Of the 3 sided pave I found the Jack Kelege attention to detail really beautiful and very ornate. For me there was too much platinum (they are equisitely engraved) and less of the diamonds showing. Michael B 3 sided pave were very dainty in comparison with more of the diamonds shown than the platinum. I hope that makes sense!
If you like antique/ornate rings that look and feel substantial then Kelege is great and the workmanship will be beautiful. If you prefer a daintier band with softer edges then look at the Michael B.
Of course my personal opinions on the styles, in terms of "quality" both are excellent.
Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate it. It was very helpful. I have been driving myself crazy deciding between the 2. I agree, the diamonds in the Michael B is "shiner" and more delicate or dainty. I feel like I am leaning towards the Michael B.
The only thing that concerns me is that if I get a larger stone (I am looking at Oval) the ring as a whole will apear too shiny. Is there such a thing?
Both are so beautiful, I would love either ....... I think it might be Michael B.
One more question do you know any retailers in NYC who sell Kelege?
Thanks again....
Good luck with your search
No probs, happy to help. What a lovely dilema - the Kelege or the Michael B?
Sorry, I don''t know anywhere in NYC that has Kelege.....I happened upon them by chance here in Boston at a jewellers who had a platinum event and 2 of their staff flew over from LA to showcase them for the event.
I know in January there is some sort of Jewellers Couture show in NYC where designers show new designs to the trade. Its around 23rd Jan . I would call Jack Kelege''s office and ask if they have any non-trade events planned around that time or where you can find a retailer who carries their rings in NYC. 1 877 6KELEGE .
Michael B is certainly easier to find than Kelege it seems!
Good luck! Please post pics when you get whatever you choose so we can all drool!
I have the Michael B. three sided pave ring set with a beautiful 1.5 c round brilliant diamond. The setting is delicate, feminine, dainty and all around perfect. I couldn''t ask for more. The ring is definetly not too "shiny" or "sparkly" the diamonds play around with each other and it is the most exquisite display of light you will ever see!! Guaranteed. I looooooooooooooooooove my Michael B. it is exquisite. You can see pictures of my ring in the SMTR folder.
Good Luck with your decision! Although I have never seen Kelege, I can vouch for the quality of the craftsmanship of Michael B.''s pieces as I own one..it is phenomenal!!
Thanks Cut Rock for your testimonial. I am actually going to run over at lunch to take another look- I think I might be driving myself a tad bit crazy but I have to say looking is so much fun!
Heather,
I presented my now fiance with a Michael B setting from the princess collection (1.4C pave diamonds in platinum) & went with a 1.51 princess solitare. The setting is blindingly beautiful & she frequently gets strnagers asking her about the band. The thin width of the band compliments the size of the soliare & her finger (size 4) perfectly. Without a doubt she wants the matching wedding band for even additonal sparkle.
I''m not familiar with the other setting, but I/we couldn''t be happier with the Michael B setting.
THANKS! IT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL!!! STUNNING! YOU MUST LOOK AT YOUR HAND A LOT!
So I ran over at lunch to Micheal C. Fina... I love your ring but believe that since I am getting an oval cut I have to go with band plus one more ring of diamonds.
It is not as delicate- but is still beautiful.....
I am going to give my final answer to my boyfriend tomorrow after I check it out one more time... I think he is begininng to think I am nuts..... but my girfriends dont think so ...
I look at my hand every other second!! I am in love... I am going to get the matching band as well because I feel "naked" with just one band since I am married. Everyone keeps asking me when I am getting married ... I will get it for either V-day or our 5th wedding anniversary.....i am excited!!!
