AHHH I'm so excited. My experience with Jon/Distinctive Gem has been a dream so far-it's such a big commitment/decision to commission a custom cut diamond and from the first conversation I had with him discussing this cut I felt completely at ease. He really seemed to understand exactly what I wanted out of my stone and has made my dream a reality! It's off to AGS to be graded now so I don't have specifics yet, but we were targeting roughly 11mm x 6.28mm.

Video!

I also worked with Jon to create a setting based off one I found on Leon Mege's website.

Setting!

I completely overindulged on the size of the center stone and the setting, but it's going to be so worth it. I love how beefy he's made the solitaire and with 8 prongs it's going to be so secure. It seems a little ridiculous to spend so much money on a temporary setting (hope to get a 3 stone someday!) but I'd rather pay a little more to keep my stone extra secure since I'm so hard on my hands. When I upgrade I'm going to get a colored stone to put in the solitaire setting.

Sorry for rambling-this is my first experience with a custom cut stone and I'm beyond excited!

It’s gorgeous! I can’t wait to see more photos of it completed.

Wow, it's beautiful, and it's going to look fantastic in that setting!

:kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2: :kiss2:

Well this is going to look incredible

Sing it sister-that's a mighty honker you're gettin!

How cool is that diamond! And the setting will be worth it, if for no other reason than for comfort. Cannot wait to see the final result.

Would you be willing to post it in the thread for LGD custom cuts?

Oh that is GORGEOUS!!! I almost went with a marquise over my radiant (I'm an old school marquise lover), but hubby veto'd it saying it looked like a lady part.

Very exciting that this belongs to a fellow PS member! It is going to be gorgeous. :D

I die.. omg.. I cannot WAIT to see this <3 <3 <3

Good for you! I’ve been having an unfamiliar and unprecedented hankering for a marquis cut lately. I can’t wait to see yours when it’s done!

Your diamond is beautiful!! Can’t wait to see the finished ring!!

From the URL it looks like it's going to be 1.54 carats. I have size 3.25ish hands so this is going to look awesome! I wanted a big beautiful diamond but my budget is a little thin, so I settled on a high quality elongated cut because I heard diamonds look even bigger when they're well cut.

I just shared her! I'm so happy to have such a unique diamond.

That's what I was worried about too, but after I tried different shapes and was still thinking about marquise I decided to stop fighting it. It's definitely a polarizing cut for that reason.

I think they're just so flattering. I've never really tried on any antique cuts or seen them in person so I'm excited to see how it performs.

It's beautiful! Can't wait until you post more pics.
