My fiance and I have decided to take the plunge on 1/14 with Quest Jewelers (much sooner than anticipated because of my green finger
38.gif
which was a blessing in disguise I guess but still doesn''t make me happy)

So I''ve been looking on PS and even at mall jewelers to see halo rings/designs etc. I love Kaleigh''s ring so I used hers for inspiration! Here it is I''m not too great at Photoshop but I tried! I want the actual halo shape to look like that but I definitely used the Tiffany Legacy design as inspiration.

Also this is the side view of the Legacy...I don''t want the micropave on the wires/prongs and I hope that will look ok....I''ll just have to see. I also want a pink sapphire surprise instead of the bezel set surprise diamond. What does everyone think??? Comments/thoughts/suggestions???

It is going to be LOVELY!!!! SO I am guessing the center will be a jubilee? How long will it take them to whip it up for you?

Well you know I will love it. Kidding aside, I think it will be lovely. I can''t tell you how many compliments I get on my ring. The workmanship is A+. Quest will do a fine job for you. I love your idea about the pink surprise stones. You take a great design and then make it your own, that''s what I did and am thrilled. Can''t wait for your ring to be completed.

Sophie: Thanks!! Yes the center will be a Jubilee I already have a 1.05 H SI1 that I adore and wouldn''t part with for the world! Quest told me 3 weeks from the start to finish I know my finger will feel very naked!

Kaleigh: LOL thanks you know your ring is infamous!

Does anyone know whether those pink sapphires will be definitely noticeable? I''d rather just me being able to see them unless one looks really closely...I tried on the Legacy and the surprise diamond wasn''t that big so I think it should be ok.

Also I forgot to mention the Jubilee will be bezel set...somewhat. Looking at the side profile, the crown should be visible or at least thats the impression I got from Pete.

I'm looking forward to following your project, PrincessV. The ring is going to be beautiful, and I have no doubt that Quest will do a fine job for you. I love your design ideas. I think the suprise pink sapphires is a really nice touch! They won't be too noticeable to others unless they are close up and looking at the side vew of your ring. I only say that because I when Quest made my platinum halo, I had them use 18K yellow in the bridge work under the halo so my ring would be 2-tone (I love 2-tone jewelry). No one notices it unless they are up close for inspection, but it was important to me that it be that way.

ETA: Are you set on pink sapphires? I ask because my SIL recently had an eternity band made with diamonds and pink sapphires. We both agreed that the sapphires don't sparkle like diamonds. Maybe they are not good quality? I don't know, but would pink diamonds be a lot more $$? Agian, I don't know the answer. I'm thinking the surprise stones will only be a few points each, right? Just a thought . . .

I think a Jubilee in that setting will look great.

I have blue sapphires in both my e-ring and my w-ring, and they also aren''t as sparkly as the diamonds in both rings. I don''t think it''s because they aren''t well-cut, but I just don''t think sapphires sparkle as much by their nature, probably something like they don''t reflect light in the same way as diamonds do. I don''t know the technical terms for this, but I do know I like the contrast between the sapphires and diamonds. I don''t know if I''d like it as well if both types of stones were equally sparkly.

Since these are going to be surprise stones, no one will really be able to see them that well anyway, and I think the pink sapphires are a good choice.

Thank you diamondlil, ep6585 and coda72!!

Well I was thinking about more of a dark pink (I''m not even sure they make sapphires that dark as compared to the regular pink sapphires I''m used to seeing) so maybe I might have to go with a pink diamond...I don''t really mind about the ''sparklness'' I''m going for more of a contrast....hrm I might have to give Pete a call again to see how much more it would be LOL Surely it can''t be that much more considering the surprise diamond in the Legacy was pretty minute (to me it looked like a .1) I keep having to remind myself that all the halo/micropave images I see online are blown up!

While I have never seen a Jubilee in person, from your photoshop pic I think it would be stunning in that setting!

That surprise stone is so small that I think it would be fine to do a sapphire. I have a surprise diamond in my new ring and I had a co-worker hold my hand up to her face to see if there was actually a diamond in the surprise setting.

Pebbles: Thanks! I do love your ring and the surprise diamond (I''ve always had a weak spot for those not sure why) do you know how big the surprise diamond is?

OK, I am definitely going to be in the minority here, but wanted to give my 2 c. I love the look of the ring you posted and I think it will look great, but I wouldn''t go with a pink suprise stone personally. I feel like the pink stones (along with pink everything else) are trendy from the past few years and made more popular by some celebs sporting pink diamonds. I couldn''t, myself, see having pink in my e-ring and not feeling passe in 5-10 years. Have you always liked pink? Do you see yourself loving the pink in years to come? if so, GO for it! If your love of the pink might fade, I''d go diamond!

Hi Gail! I don''t think you''re in the minority at all because I have been debating about it for a couple of weeks. Surprisingly it was my fiance who gave me the suggestion of the pink sapphires only as surprise stones though (I don''t think I could ever do a whole pink halo
23.gif
) I have always love love loved pink my whole life. What I like about the pink is that only I will be able to see it most people when viewing the ring will not be able to see the small spot of pink secondly instead of a normal pink sapphire I want a much more intense deep pink. Pete at Quest has told me it''ll be very small and having tried on the Legacy I believe him..my point is...its still all up in the air
5.gif
I''ll have to decide by 1/14 I suppose

My guess is that the surprise diamonds are only 1 or 2 points. Since they''re bezel set, it''s kind of hard to tell, but my original e-ring has 2 point stones that are channel set and the surprise diamonds look smaller than that.

Personally I would do a colored surprise diamond either. I prefer my e-ring to be all diamonds.

Oh my, that is going to be one super stunning ring! I love the octagonal shape of the halo!

I am sure I will have more nice words to say once he finished ring is posted : )

I wish yu well,

Bridget

Only 12 more days till I meet with them
31.gif
boy am I getting excited!

Have to get preferences:

Do you prefer bezel set or raised on prongs set?

Problem with prongs is that the prongs will be a bit bulkier and specially made so they don''t cut off the arrows on the corners of the Jub.

Oh and I decided against the pink sapphire surprise (thanks ladies for making me confirm my gut instinct!)...my fiance was a bit disappointed.

I can't wait to see your ring! I LOVE the setting!
31.gif

I kind of like the raised prong setting...for whatever that is worth. But there is definitely something to the flush bezel setting...Tough call!

Which way do you think you want to go?

Edited to add: I have struggled a bit with the higher setting of my ring and you might have the same issue. I've had it for a couple weeks now and I've finally stopped knocking it on things...but I love it anyway!

-Lyss

Thanks littlelysser!

Haha looking at your ring made me think about raised prongs (I have an unhealthy obsession with your ring now
31.gif
) but like I said the prongs can''t touch the Jubilee since I want all arrows to show the arrows are at the corners as seen here http://jubileecut.com Also aren''t Jubs a little shallow? So if I do the raised prongs will I be able to see the diamond from the side at all?

Also how do you like the micropave on the underwires? I was thinking about doing away with it but then the more I think about it...the more I like the way the micropave on the underwires taper off into just sleek metal. However Pete at Quest said that doing away with the micropave will allow him to lessen the thickness of the underwires allowing more of a side view of the diamond.

Decisions, decisions.
5.gif

First - Obsess away! I am glad you like it!

I see what you mean about the corners of the jub. I''m not sure what you could do about that... I''m not much help!

I can''t really see my diamond from the side...if you mean from below the halo. Honestly, I never really thought about it. I''m not sure how much I could see even if it were bezel set.

As for the diamonds on the underwire...I really like them. I like the way the way it kind of comes to a point at the surprise diamond and its smooth from there...I think it adds a cool detail to the stone...

I can''t wait to see your ring!!!!

Keep those diamonds on the underwire, they add a nice touch. I love them on mine.
2.gif

Kaleigh and littlelysser you guys + that Daniel K ring + Tiffany Legacy = empty pockets and ramen noodles for me and my fiance! LOL

I think I will do bezel set simply for the arrows I love seeing the arrows now although I can definitely see where 4 of the arrows are cut off on the corner from different light conditions.

I also agree with y''all (yes I''m from the South
5.gif
) about the micropave on the underwires...I think unlike the Legacy and like littlelysser''s ring I will do away with the excess metal there.

Kaleigh: I''m really really admiring the bars on your halo. I read your thread and want to know if you have any regrets on doing the bars vs. no bars. Also why did Pete say bars were necessary?

Littlelysser does your halo have bars?? I don''t think I see any but maybe its just me?
33.gif

They are so miniscule in person, really. At first I was like nope, no bars. In the pic they look big, but you need to see the pics Nan took. You can't even see them. Pete will explain why they were necessary.
2.gif
Look at the thread titled, " Look Nan has her hand on my asscher", those are the best pics!!
3.gif

Princessv - I''m not sure if there are bars or not...I''m thinking since I don''t know if there are, I''m saying no.

Where would I find them if they were there?

Lyss

Littlelysser if you look at the very top of this page the ring displayed is Kaleigh''s ring with a Jubilee put in it. The bars are actualy in the halo at the corners little lines they look like really. Hard to tell you can see it better in some of her other pictures especially the CAD images and in the Daniel K ring.

Okay...I finally gotcha now! Eeesh...I am not a bright bulb!

Anyway...my ring definitely does NOT have bars. I think they are interesting though. I like them when they are understated like they are on Kaleigh''s ring.

Oh littlelysser don''t say that about yourself!!

I like them both ways really but I''m getting my setting done by the same jeweler that did Kaleigh''s so I have a feeling I''m going to have to like the bars hehe.
31.gif

I have double claw prongs on my ring and they are so tiny I have a hard time seeing them. I think it will beautiful either way.

Princessv,

I''m so happy for you!

Quick note on these... you may have them larger than pointers any day - a matter of design. And apparently, they show!

At least it happens in this ring, and the bezels aren''t even pink metal.

image011.jpg

Ring from Mark''s, of course.

If there are going to be just two and small, I would go for pink diamonds. It can''t hurt, can it
2.gif

Anyway, speaking of ''deep pink'' - that would likely mean sapphire unless you definitely want to grow old before finding the right diamonds. Tiny rubies would work too.

Did you decide on pink diamonds instead or no surprise?

Another thing to consider when thinking about surprise diamonds as well as the bars with diamonds is how it will sit with a wedding band. That is, if you plan to wear a wedding band that sits flush with you e-ring. Many times I see rings with fancy baskets and pave on the sides of rings, but if you plan to wear a wedding band up against the e-ring, it either may not sit flush or one ring could damage the other as they rub together over years.
