You ladies bring up good points!

Appletini: I''m thinking little prongs like in this Jubilee https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-jubilee-in-a-custom-setting.32923/= looks pretty teeny to me!

Lmurden: Thank you!

Ana and diamondlil: Hehe I should have been more specific the surprise diamonds/sapphires (whichever I pick) will be bezel set. When I first started thinking about a new setting one of my problems was that absolutely under no circumstances did I want a curved wedding band!

So micropave on the underwires it is...along with Kaleigh''s halo/Daniel K halo exactly with 8 little prongs holding the diamond raised a bit higher. Thoughts/comments/suggestions?

Whew this was turning out more work than I thought but fun stuff

Ana (super helpful person that she is!) and I have been discussing the pros and cons of bezel setting a Jubilee.

So here is my question: should a Jubilee be bezel set ever?

Thanks. These things are fun

I just hope this time I didn''t just manage to blow a dinghy non-issue out of proportion.

Here''s what I meant:

(Btw: even between these two, it doesn''t look like all Jubilees are alike)

Ana thanks for those models! I think I understand what you mean...I wish there was a way to see bezel set vs. not. I''ve been trying to cover up the corners all morning does that count?

If you don''t mind I''m going to email that picture to Quest

''course not.... I would be glad to hear their conclusion as well.

Can''t you just raise it and make it prong set...it doesnt have to be sticking out like a sore thumb over the halo but a slight lift and no bezel would most likely keep the girdles unobstructed? That is what I was thinking of originally when I made the comments re: bezel setting the Jubilee. I would do a prong set up above the halo just the tiniest bit and not do bezel. I don''t KNOW if for sure it would change the look of the stone or somehow detract from it with a bezel but wouldn''t it be horrible to get the ring done and find out that bezel set was NOT the way to go? Better safe than sorry IMO with a specialty stone like that!

Have you looked at WF''s prong set round vs bezel set round settings? Just for comparison purposes to show a bezel set stone vs a prong set. I will post a picture of both on my hand here. The difference is very minimal in terms of ''looks''....I think that sometimes we make a bigger deal out of one vs the other but in reality the IDEA is the same?

Hi Mara! I''d love to see the pictures of the difference on hand. It''s so hard sometimes to see rings and the differences in them but not really know how that would look oh hand. And I also definitely agree ''better safe than sorry'' so I am going to go with the little prongs. I''m also trying to steer it away from looking too ''cushiony'' not that its a bad thing its just many people mistake the Jubilee for a cushion as my current setting does no justice to the stone''s unique shape.

However, I am still very curious to see how much light return would be affected if a Jubilee were bezel set either in a halo or a different type of setting.

Here's one...on the hand closeup, top is prong, bottom is bezel. The difference is slight as you can see..

and here is a shot of them with sparklies...they were both beautiful but are slightly different looks.

Thanks Mara!

From looking at those and other rings under SMTR, I think I''ll do itty bitty prongs and set it just a bit higher.

Only 10 more days till my meeting with Quest until then I get to drive poor Pete crazy with emails of my suggestions and concerns.

I thought I''d go ahead and post what Pete from Quest had to say about bezel setting the Jubilee in the Legacy-sque design.

"In regards to the bezel setting of a hearts and arrows diamond, I would
be concern if and only if the bezel is completely solid with only one
opening at the bottom of the diamond. I''m certain that they would be against
the amount of metal actually covering the diamond. If that was the case, I
agree. Truly, you have a different agenda. We''ll have all the opening
and enough light through the entire pavilion of the diamond. Your design
has so much open galleries and lighting is not an issue. I hope this helps."

Thanks again for the help guys!

Guess this still means I still have to decide

Only 8 more days!

So my meeting with Quest was a blast yesterday and I''m so glad my issues with the design were resolved. I even got to tour the workshop...definitely not what I had in mind...it kinda looked more like a woodshop
3.gif
but with diamonds and wax models lying around.

So this is what the design is going to look like kind of. (Forgive me I''m a little lazy to photoshop). Pretty much Kaleigh''s/Daniel K halo with no miligraining on the inside. Daniel K but without those weird underwires you see there or the micropave on the inside.

The side view will look like the Legacy (without the graduated sidestones) with the one surprise diamond and NO underwires.
36.gif
So its sort of Ritanish. So overall the side view will look like the Legacy with graduated sidestones but without all the micropave or the two additional surprise diamonds.

CADs will be in in the next 7-10 days. Project has an estimated completion date on Feb. 14th (but I''ll have to wait till the weekend to pick it up if thats true
14.gif
) Blah my finger feels so empty already!

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions?

Oh Princess, you ring sounds like it will be amazing. I cannot wait to see the cads from Quest. You must be bursting with excitment..

Well, you already know my thoughts. I think this ring is going to be amazing, you will be thrilled with it I''m sure. Can''t wait for the cads, Rose will do a great job on them. It will go by quickly and will be sooo worth it in the end. My ring does have those underwires, but I blitzed them with diamonds so they are pretty.
2.gif

Thanks mrssalvo! I''m going through diamond withdrawal
39.gif
but I know it''ll be worth it in the end!

kaleigh: You know I was all pro underwires like yours with the pave and in fact that was what I was going to do..but fiance didn''t like it...heck he didn''t even like the halo idea
31.gif
but we compromised and I think in the end I decided I liked it either way but NOT the Legacy w/o graduated sidestones way.

But you gotta admit the prongs on the Daniel K are funk-ti-fied.
31.gif

I know its going to be gorgeous!!! I can''t to see it...tell quest to hurry up!!!

So true about the workshop. It is amazing what beautiful creations come out of there. Your rings will be incredible. Are your driving back out to Quest to see the wax?

Thank you appletini!! I''m going through diamond withdrawal so bad...hehe I feel like a junkie!
5.gif
But at least I have PS to keep my obsession alive and healthy haha.

diamondlil: Well Pete asked me to drive back..but I feel like it''ll be a bit much (6 hours on the road in a day
14.gif
) so I told him to send me pictures instead. He wanted to send me the wax but I said NO too much time!!
23.gif
If you want to you can check out the wax in person though when its ready hehe!

oh wow
18.gif
it is going to be stunning!
i really can not wait to see this ring!

Thank you belle! I can''t wait to see it either..and its only been 2 days.
