If you like the setting, Harriet, let it inspire a ring for you ;-). You don't want a 10 carat plus diamond!

Actually, I don't!

I wasn't kidding! I was sure you didn't! Diamond shrinkage syndrome does set in. At first 1 carat seemed enormous to me and I refused to go over 1.25 carats. I, now, might be ready for a two to three carat. But I've been hanging around for 10 years now. If you just started with a 3 carat you should definitely not be ready for a 10 carat!

Deb, I''m seriously content with my RB. That doesn''t preclude other shapes, though.

Harriet,

NEVER give up that ring! NEVER!!! It is perfect! The only reason I ever considered going larger than my current solitaire is because I love the proportions of your stone!

PS-I will never get rid of my current solitaire, either! If I come into money, I may add a larger round brilliant to my repertoire and retire one of my other current pieces-or more-with a round stone. Probably the RB I have set in a 24K hammered gold ring would be retired.

Deb,
I''m flattered. Don''t worry. I love my stone and am never giving it up.

Sold Dec. 11, I believe the day the Madoff scandal hit. Wonder if it will come back onto the market

Also wonder who had the scratch to be spending $1M on a ring at this time. I know everyone isn''t broke but still . . . that''s so 2006.

Crap, those things are HUGE. I love the setting of the OEC. So cool.

ETA- Excuse me, the OMC. The second one that Harriett posted.

Yes. I just looked again. It hasn''t gotten any less spectacular. Too bad.

Deb, didn''t you say you didn''t quite care for the big ones?

If anyone can help me find a copy of JAR''s book that won''t break the bank, I''d be extremely grateful.

I did, but I wasn't referring to the stone. I was imagining a 2-3 carat in that setting...and I cannot afford that, either. :)
