Does anyone know how James Allen H&A compare to others, such as ACA and GOG? I''ve seen it mentioned that James Allen does not provide hearts images, even though their signature line is called ''Hearts and Arrows.''

I''m sure some of them are nice and tightly cut...but I''ve seen some that aren''t. So I would just say that you need to do a bit more legwork with their H&A stones than you need to do with say Whiteflash''s ACAs.

What more legwork do I need to do? For instance, this is the idealscope and the stone in question scores a 1 on HCA.

You did your legwork. It looks really nice! Just some of them don''t look that nice and don''t score under 2 on the HCA, so you just want to double check those things.

Not sure if it matters to you but James Allens upgrade policy requires you to spend 2x the original amount. Other vendors only say spend more. 2x more can be kinda steep. Otherwise it is a nice stone!

Well to judge a hearts and arrows stone, the experts always caution you need a hearts image - but I don't know if JA provide them?

However the IS image looks great.

JA offers some diamonds that are as well cut as WF ACA''s and GOG''s well-cut stones, but it often takes a little more work to find them on the site. I have a well-cut stone from JA and I love it! It was a little cheaper than WF and GOG prices as well, but also keep in mind what the others mentioned for their upgrade policy. The ideal scope image that you posted is excellent!

Lorelei- I have read the numerous posts saying that you really need a hearts image to judge H&A. This is actually the major reason for my hesitation to purchase a H&A cut from James Allen.

I don't know what criteria JA use for their H&A diamonds unfortunately, as I have only recently seen some come up on the boards - the experts here always teach us that a hearts image is needed to be able to judge a diamond of this type. You could certainly ask them what standards their H&A have to meet, James Schultz the CEO is a fantastic guy and very pleasant to speak with by all accounts so he should be able to advise you, or one of his staff.

I don't know if you have come accross this article? This is the one used in the Pricescope tutorial for hearts and arrows info.
