So I have had some contact with a jade specialist store in Taiwan, in regard to buying some cabochons. Apparently the shop is reluctant to send the items to be graded overseas in labs such as HKJSL or Nanyang Singapore.

They offered domestic certification in private labs, such as Lai Tai-An or Wu Chao-Ming; from my very basic Chinese looks like they do deal with jade certification a fair amount. My understanding is Taiwan Gemological Institute is the most internationally known gem laboratory from Taiwan, but from their website doesn’t look like they don’t have much of specialisation for jade.

For anyone with experiences trading jadeite in or around Taiwan, what would be the best option for domestic certification, are certificates from private labs such as Lai Tai-An or Wu Chao-Ming worth the papers they are written on, or should I really insist on HK/Singapore certificate and look at another vendor if this shop doesn’t budge?

From other Jade groups, the cert I saw people shared from Taiwan are usually from Cathay Gem Consultant: http://www.cathay-gem.com/

I would also trust the HK one from Hong Kong Jade and Stone Laboratory: http://www.jadeitelaboratory.com.hk/lab/index_en.html

Yeah I also read about Cathay, couldn't get any information from the website which doesn't seem to be much completed. Which jade groups are we talking about, any in English language? :)

Between HKJSL and Nanyang Singapore, it appears Nanyang has higher threshold for assigning peak "vivid green" label.

Hi SP.
I've been looking at Kathy Jade's products recently and came across this thread during my research. If you don't mind sharing what was the outcome of you research and what did you end up doing? Any info you can share is much appreciated!
Thanks!

Thinking of making a splash after tax return in a few weeks, have a stone I have in mind, will put up for opinions when I am going for it!

I think Tulab is ok
