I have a GIA 0.9ct E 3EX VS1 stone to trade in and upgrading to a bigger stone. In order to allow me to have a bigger stone. I will have to have to lower the quality in color and clarity. I am not sure if J is ok or not.. Since my current stone is E, do you think the yellow tint will bother me? Extra $2000 seems quite a lot but if it is worth paying extra $2000 for H, I will go for it.

I am upgrading my stone at the original store of purchase, therefore these 2 stones are the only stones it fits my preference. They have similar spec with lower cut grade but I don't want to compromise in cut quality.
What do you think of the stones below?

It if were my ring I would prefer the H.. I would only go to J in my ears...Just one opinion

You'll never hear me talk badly about J color (as I own one), but if you're used to an E, I would be hesitant to say it wouldn't bother you. Have you tried it on?

I don't know if this is an option, but would you consider waiting longer in order to save more money for a more significant upgrade? ...like from your current ring to a 1.25-1.3ish stone?? :halo:

I have an F for an ering, and I didn't like I for earrings. I admit I'm color sensitive so I never could go from E to J in MRB. I love the kind of color that comes off an F. It's a cooler light, while the I was reflecting a warmer light.

Nope, I do not think it is a good idea to go from E to J. You will probably notice the color difference in the H. But I think H is a good choice in order to upgrade.

Completely agree here. Your eyes are 'calibrated' to an E, the J will just be too tinted for you. I'm wearing a .84 D, and am speaking from experience. I've cost myself $$$ several times because of it.

I like J's. But from an E to a J. That's probably not going to be a good fit.

I think H is good though.

My thoughts are pretty much the same as the other ladies. Both stones are well cut, if I had to express a preference, I prefer the numbers of the J from the info we have, but the H is no slouch either. Would it be pushing it to go to a J colour....Only you can answer that but it might possibly be. Check out both away from the store lighting before you make a decision and make sure to check the side views of each stone, the J particularly might show a little extra warmth from that view.

But they are both potentially great diamonds, very fun project and you will enjoy the extra size, it's a nice leap! :praise:

Can your jeweler call in the two options for you to compare? One of the benefits of buying from a B&M is being able to see stones in person. And ideally, I think anyone shopping for a diamond should be able to view and compare at least 3-4 options to allow them to trait their diamond palate!

Ditto that, lol training the diamond palate but so true! Gosh I have missed your way with words Dreamer!!! It's always best to compare so you KNOW exactly where your preference lies than once the deal is done, seeing another ''better'' diamond and wishing you went whiter/cleaner/bigger/better cut/different shape/ and so on. You change your car every few years ( unless your name happens to be Lorelei  ) as I get very attached to mine, but you spend time and money researching engine sizes, performance ratings, economy, comfort, luggage space and so on for an expensive item you might only use or keep for a few years. Then once you find a car you like, you get a mechanic to check it over and you test drive it thoroughly before the deal is struck....So it makes sense to me to invest just as much thought and research - if not more - plus the help of qualified professionals into what can be a huge financial investment on a small item that one hopes, will be worn and enjoyed for a lifetime. It's money and time well spent, I have seen this time and time again, those that normally get the most long term satisfaction and enjoyment from their purchase are often those that spend the time researching before they commit. I can spend days dithering over whether to buy a bottle of perfume - like I need any more :wink2: - but to me, that's a large part of the fun

Sorry for my late reply. Thank you so much for all your great support and comments.

Unfortunately, the H stone I was interested in is no longer available. I went to the store to see G, H and J. ( none of the stores had I color)The GIA 3EX J looked very sparking and beautiful, but I admit I can see the yellowish tint. I think my eyes are used to see my E color stone and it will bother me. So I will not go for J.

Do you think H is good enough? I don't want people to think I got a bigger stone but with a yellowish tint. Should I try to get the stone in G? I love my E color stone but I am not getting D E F color this time in order to maximum the carat size. If I go for an H, I can get a slightly bigger stone than G. I cannot made up my mind...

People not critically examining the diamond would not likely see any color in an H. You might notice it but it won't be noticeable to others.
I would not drop below H if you're wanting a white diamond. G might be more appropriate for you but you have to balance size because there is a pretty significant jump in price from H to G. Only you can make that decision. It may help to go back to a store and compare h vs g in different lighting. Look at it from the side because that is where you'll notice it the most.
