First of all, I really want to thank everyone here for the assistance you've all given me. I've posted so many threads with so many questions and there's always answers and responses within no time. All of which were of GREAT assistance in my search.

Let me say ALL of the Brian Gavin Signature diamonds were incredible. All extremely white and extremely sparkly.... noticeably more so than any throughout my hunt. The decision really came down to what I needed at my budget. And without talking specifics, once everything was said and done, I ended up getting what I think is a spectacular diamond + setting for a great great price.

Setting: Tiffany Novo replica called Novela on Brian Gavin... what are y'alls thoughts on the dimensions here? I hope it's not too skinny/thin. It's thick near the top but thins out as you go around. Unfortunately there was not one on hand to view.

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

sounds awesome! so you were OK with the H color? what other diamonds did you see/compare to?

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

There was literally every color lined up and I only saw any differences face up from the J color. The H and the G were practically identical.

You can see warmth on the side on the J and I but honestly it was so close once you got to H, that the price jump was not worth it for me anyway.

Face up, the H looks just like the G. The F color price jump would've been too much for me to handle

Brian Gavin's diamonds are really spectacular... all SO brilliant (the signature H&A stones) and all so white. Hell, the J was even white had it not been side by side to a bunch of others.

The sparkle was amazing... I instantly realized what the signture H&A from Brian Gavin meant

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Congratulations!
It's gorgeous!

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Not gonna say there weren't differences once I got to DEF but the price difference wasn't really a thought so that kind of helped ha

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Wow!

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Thanks!

I know the ring isn't really custom or unique, but she is really just a classical look kinda girl. She loved the Novo replica she tried on a while back and had always wanted a nice round cut diamond on a pave setting.

It does scare me not seeing the setting ever..... but I'm putting a lot of trust in BG in that it looks excellent. I know she'll like anything I give her though :wink2:

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Lovely! I think she will be thrilled!

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Yay!!! :appl: I'm so glad you were able to see these stones in person. Now, no more worrying about "what ifs". You saw others and this was the one. I think your ff will be speechless! (in a good way) And I'm sure BGD will do a great job with the setting, no worries.

Hiya Anonymous6,

I just purchased a BGD Signature H&A myself, however, I wasn't able to view the diamond in person as I am in Australia.

I ended up with an E, VS1 in a 0.731ct. My girl isn't a big diamond type. I went with the Classic Tiffany Half Round setting.

Was super thrilled with the customer service at BGD and your comments above echo the trust I put in BGD to be able to purchase sight unseen!

Can't wait to see mine and congratulations on your purchase also! The diamond and setting look stunning!

:appl:

love the stone, love the setting!

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

The videos on Youtube are amazing  you must be pretty excited...

By the way BGD and other online vendors really should consider adding videos of their settings on their sites !

I love it!!

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

I think what you chose looks great! Congratulations! I look forward to seeing more pics when you receive it.

I, too, am in the process of purchasing an E-ring from BGD. It's great to hear that all their diamonds looked fantastic in person. Really makes me feel more at ease with purchasing one of their H&A stones without ever seeing them in person first!

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

I just purchased a BG signature as well. I had to drop down to an "I" color to stay within budget. This initially really concerned me, but after speaking directly with Lesley and Brian I was comfortable making the purchase. We'll see how I feel once I see it in person, but then again I think I am quite a bit more color sensitive than most people. I dont think my GF will notice considering I have now looked at about 1000 more stones than her

Wink of High Performance Diamonds and Todd of Nice Ice are two online vendors who have videos of the diamonds they carry. Wink has also made me videos of diamonds I've asked to be called in for consideration.

Congratulations on your decision, Anonymous! It looks gorgeous and you put so much time and attention into getting it right -- she will be thrilled.

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Yeah, GoG has some great videos on youtube.

They do a lot of comparison videos of color and cut. Very neat what you can see on camera, let alone in person.

If you watch the video where he compares H to G to F to D, it's pretty crazy how close in color they are. You can't see a difference until he turns them upside down, but even then, it's very slight. Face up, I honestly couldn't arrange them in rank order. They're all signature H&A stones as well... I guess that's the point he's trying to make.

I can't wait to pick up the ring. If it looks half as good as that youtube video with the guy holding it on his pinky, I'll be thrilled.

Honestly, as long as it's cut well, the differences are very slight. Check out a the youtube video from Good Old Gold where he compares all the colors.

I think he has one where it's K, J, I, H. You'll see you barely see a difference once you get to I... in my opinion. I, too, almost got the I color because of budget so I was looking into all of this

It's one of brian's signature H&A, so I think the cut will be great. That Novela on you tube looks awesome. I know my GF wants a much larger band though so I dont know what I am going to do. She found a setting a while back she wanted that was 4.5mm
She's a size 7 finger, but it definetly wasnt the style I would have picked for her. Especially considering she wanted the largest looking center stone possible.

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

My gf size is a 6.75 for what that's worth.

4.5mm sounds pretty large, but I really have no clue seeing as thoughI was only viewing 1.8-2.5mm bands this whole time.

Definitely get what the girl wants though. Or take her around to local jewelers to actually try on some of the thicket settings 4mm+ and try on some around 2mm and see what she says then.

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Yes! I saw your pics and all of your threads (did a search for novela along the way)

Love it. I honestly cannot wait to pick it up next week.

Looks like we have good taste :)

Yeah I'll have to take her around. I agree, I think 4.5mm is way too large. My thought was why am I spending all this money on a center stone when you just want a giant band filled with a bunch of tiny stones that overpowers it? I guess she just doesnt want anything overly dainty.

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

2.5-3 mm might be a good compromise, not too dainty but not very thick.

Re: I've made the decision!!! Specs, images, and details ins

Agree with SLG. Plus, with a separate wedding band, she can get closer to that thicker band look if she likes, or have a daintier e-ring as a stand alone option.

When I looked at sets, I originally eyed the Cartier 1895 pave solitaire. DH thought it was a lot of bling on the hand. With both bands, it's 6mm of finger coverage. I used to think I needed it cover up my meaty fingers. Now, I prefer a thinner band. BTW, thicker bands get hard to wear when your finger swells up. She'd have to get a larger ring size to accommodate that problem.
