After starting with art deco and Leon Mege, my ideas went through the gamut, from high end platinum and pave to artisan design from etsy. I finally found a perfect inspiration piece: a unique but sleek retro piece listed on ebay. I''ve gotten a great quote from Brian Gavin, and all that stands between this piece and my finger is some creative fund raising and the time it takes to have it crafted.

The ring will be made with 18k yellow gold and two signature diamonds as accents. My last decision is whether to make it for my ring finger or for my middle finger. Right now I''m leaning toward middle finger. What do you think?

Using my own hands as a comparison (''cause I don''t know how big yours are), if the ring is going to be more than 15mm long then I''d do the middle finger otherwise I''d do the ring finger.

My ring finger is size 7 1/4 and my middle finger is somewhere in the 8 to 8 1/2 range.

Pretty much my exact situation, kismet. In addition I get more finger real estate that way too!

yay! it''s going to look fantastic! not sure on what fingers you wear your ring on most. but for me, I find that I wear more low rings (no stones) on my middle finger, and on a ring finger, I wear rings that have larger gemstones and higher setting rings.

to me, I think it would look really good on the middle finger. can''t say exactly why, but thats my gut feeling. either way it''ll look great, I guess I''d go with what I thought I would be most comfortable wearing

I''m estimating the finished ring will probably be about 16mm in length. I measured both ring and middle fingers knuckle to knuckle. Ring is 20mm, middle is 25mm. I think the middle finger would probably be the best choice.

It would depend on the real estate of your finger up to that knuckle. If your stone is large and longish, I’d do the middle finger. I have short stubby fingers so I can’t pull it off.

Is your cabochon as high as it looks in the CADs? If so, I''d probably wear it on my ring finger.

Not quite that high. Well, looking at it in this picture it does look high, doesn't it?

Great choice, uppy. I think it will suit the star incredibly well. Where did you find that lovely deco setting?

Finger choice.. I am boring. Thus far all of mine grace my ring finger. Rings seem to look funny on other fingers for me, perhaps because my hands are small? So I am not much help there!

Another vote for middle finger. That is a great design.

So glad you decided Uppy-it''s going to be fabulous! Can''t wait to see it!

I''m glad you checked in. You''ve been following this from the beginning! I can''t wait to see the BGD signature diamonds in it!

Wow, love that setting! :D My choice is for the middle finger but only because when I wear larger rings, I tend to hit them on things more often on my ring finger than on my middle finger. I think that stone will be gorgeous in that setting. Yummy!

I say middle finger too. This may be a dumb question but does that setting allow for movement? I can see the bezels being "hinged" if you will and allowing some movement between the two along the airline. Very interesting setting!
