Hi,
I write this having been on a long and eye-opening journey of choosing a diamond and setting for an engagement ring. I've always bought from Tiffany until a few months ago, when I gifted a diamond pendant necklace. I noticed the clasp loop was quite flimsy, but thought nothing of it since heck, it was Tiffany, so surely they know what they're doing. The pendant and necklace fell off, lost forever, and resulted in lots of tears. Tiffany was no longer an option.
Fast forward some more, and I wanted to finally get my most amazing and lovely gf a ring. I knew about BlueNile, so went online and tried to make sense of everything. I ended up shortlisting a few diamonds within budget, researched shipping and duties, picked a setting... and then wanted to see what else was available.
That's when I discovered PriceScope... and haven't slept since. I spent weeks absorbing all your amazing and informative posts, searching for pictures of settings, etc. I also learnt the importance of getting the right cut. My BlueNile choices seemed rather amateurish, and I decided to start over.
Enter Whiteflash. I didn't like the name (still don't)... it sounds like a bathroom cleaning product, or a medical grade toothpaste. However, the amount of information presented transparently is incredible. I kept going back and forth between PriceScope forums and Whiteflash, learning how to evaluate scope and ASET images, and all the various other numbers and parameters. I ended up buying this:
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3983294.htm
It's rather small compared with some of the crazy doorknobs I've seen on these forums. I'm also nowhere near the most profitable customer Whiteflash has had. I've also been rather demanding through chat and email (being located on the other side of the world doesn't help), especially well after-hours in Texas where WF is located. However, all the lovely people I chatted with were professional, friendly, helpful, and did exactly what they said they would do. Not a single person let me down by not meeting commitments, etc. I corresponded with about 7-10 people and they were all flawless.
I wanted to write this note of thanks to both Whiteflash, and all of you that post on PriceScope. The ring is still in transit, somewhere in Indianapolis. I'm terribly excited and can't wait to watch my gf's eyes light up with happiness. She deserves only the best, and all of you have made that happen.
P.S. - Is it wrong to think about upgrading the diamond while another is still in transit?
N.
