Hi everyone, in searching for all my engagement ring Qs this forum has kept coming up over and over again with great info, thanks!

I have a specific question would appreciate your opinion.

We're considering this ring (Scott Kay setting sometimes called "tension" sometimes called "bar set")

We fell in love with this setting at the Jeweler but this is an online deal, which is quite a bit less than anything else I've found and I can get it much faster than ordering through the jeweler (4-6 weeks)

Problem, ring is 7.5 and I would need it resized to 7. I am getting mixed opinions about if this is a true tension ring or not. I was told it is not a true tension ring and resizing it is not a problem, which I really want to believe! But all the things I have read on the internet about tension rings possibly loosing thier integrity when resized, etc... worry me.

I want to be reasonably certain it should be able to be resized before buying, and feel that the stone will be safe if it is resized.

What do y'all think?

Thanks
Jennie

I''m not a jeweler so I can''t say for sure, but I do think it could be sized a little bit without issues. Since you are only going down a little bit, you may also just want to add in some very tiny sizing beads or a horseshoe sizer.

That''s not a tension ring. Tension rings stones are suspened. This one has a bar. I''ve seen them before and they''re a good choice for someone that wants a tension, but not the risks that may be involved in losing the diamond.

As far as resizing- it does not look like it should be a problem.

Ditto, that this is not really a tension setting, and definitely a great option for a similar sleek look without some of the issues!

What Elle said! Because it''s not a tension it should be fairly easy to size.
