Hey everyone! I don''t know much about diamonds and got a questions for experts here:

1.30 carat, F color, SI1 with 2 only tiny crystal spots showed on the report, ideal cut, excellent polish and symmetry, HCA score 1.5--------ok, that''s all I know about this online diamond. Is $9000 a right price??

Help help!! I got to make decision these two days. Thank you a heavy lot!

In order to determine if it is a good buy, you need to give us the angles. You must have them since you got an HCA score. Do you have an aset or Idealscope image? It seems like a good price, but I'm confused by Ideal cut and excellent symmetry. Who is the cert from? What are the measurements?

You can also use this tool to compare prices by searching your specs:

Hey cinnamon013, thanks so much for reply. I''m excited to see someone answering my first time post

here''s the angle: table, 55%, depth 61.6%, crown angle 35 Pavilion angle 40.8

what do you think?? Thankssss

oh, you asked about the measurement and cert.......It is certified by GIA. measured 7.01 x 7.04 x 4.33 mm

anybody who knows diamond prices walking by here: please give me an idea is this diamond a right choice at a good price?? thank you

With any PS vendors, you would receive a discount (I pretty much listed the wire discount price and PS discount price shown on the search tool) that varies according to the vendor, payment method, etc.

Here is a comparison:
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4207/ $8456 and a beauty - F color comparison

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3730/ YUM - Don''t be afraid of this color I. It would be gorgeous. $8667 I am drooling.

It does appear the one you have in mind is nice. One item, though. GIA does not use Ideal as a term on their certs. Currently, Excellent is their highest rating. Just wanted to make sure you understood this since so many websites use that term as their own definition. It''s not GIAs definition.

Do you have access to any photos or other reports on the stone you have on hold?

oh I don''t have a photo about the report.the sales told me it is eye clean SI1 and the only inclusion is crystal

BTW, comparing with the 1.30, the one I mentioned, with a 1.50 carat, G, SI2, excellent cut,HCA 3.8, $9000 as well, is it true that 1.50 carat can conserve the value better just because the size sounds more premium?

Well, I''m not sure what you are getting at. But, it sounds like you are thinking of this as an investment. Diamonds don''t really work that way. Unless you are buying from GOG or WF, where they will give you the value you paid when you upgrade to a larger stone. You wouldn''t be able to sell either of those rings, I don''t care what the size is for anywhere near what you paid for it. It just doesn''t work out that way. Is this why you were asking?

I would not think a HCA 3.8 would be on my list. I''d also wonder if it is as large as it should be anyway. It might not face up as large as it should. Ultimately, no one who matters is really going to be asking you the size where they would be impressed one over the other. You could lie and no one would really know if your 1.3 is well cut. If you don''t believe me, go to the mall and check out stones there. Poorly cut stones in the 1.5 arena might not appear nearly as big as a 1.05 that is well cut. It is 1: about the measurements, and 2: the way the diamond is cut, your eye will see the diamond to the edges if it is well cut. Poorly cut and it sort of fades away and doesn''t seem as impressive.

Did you check out that I from GOG?

PSers get discounts on diamonds? how so? in the search tool up above already have the discount included? can this discount be applied to pearlmans too?

Hi Greenriver! Welcome to PS!

If you would like to compare the price you paid against what''s available with PS vendors, you may wish to use the Pricescope Cut Quality Search Tool. Here is a link

I took the liberty of running the specs of your diamond and found that the price you paid appears to be quite fair, indeed. There is a 1.28 F/SI1 well cut diamond from GOG that comes up at a price of $8,456.00. Can''t get much closer than that, can you?

... Oops. I just saw that Cinnamon13 took good care of you already. I guess it doesn''t hurt to hear the same thing twice.

Good luck with your purchase ... Providing you confirm whether or not it is eyeclean, it sounds as though it will be a great diamond.

You can inquire with your PS vendor and they should be able to provide you with details. Sometimes the PS discount may be the bankwire price and other times, the vendor might be able to offer something additional to that.

Unfortunately, I''m not certain whether or not it applies with Pearlman''s as well, however, if you contact them, they should be able to inform you.

To cinnamon013: Thank you so much!! yes I have check out the I from GOG and it costs $8971, same price as the $9000. Yeah it''s really a pretty diamond with little inclusion. Would the I look like a yellow diamond though???

To diamondseeker2006: Hey thank you!! I just checked the HCA score it is 1.3
However, the idea scope website shows this:
Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Very Good
Scintillation Very Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good

How come a HCA 1.3 only have a VG fire and a VG scintillation?? isn''t the lower the HCA score the better the diamond is cut??

Research, research, research is the key!

You''ll probably find that you are a lot happier with the purchase once you have been educated to the point where you just KNOW what you have decided on is the best deal and best quality that you desire.
Good luck w/charging hubby. Let us know how that works out for you.

I think his counter argument might be that that the diamond you are looking for is your payment?? ... Don''t give in though! Negotiate. Go Bigger!

Not over GOG. They don''t have an upgrade policy which is why I don''t like them. They''re a bit more expensive too I''ve noticed...

If you pay by bank wire, you''ll get the PS discount and the stone would be $8667. No, that well cut I would look nice and white.

Absolutely not!!! The HCA is intended as an elimination tool, not a selection one. A diamond scoring under 2 is considered worth further evaluation, this is done with Idealscope images, vendor input and your own eyes. A lower score does not mean one diamond is better than another.

Personally, I would go with a vendor with an upgrade policy.

Also, where are you getting your setting from?

I am thinking about getting a setting from bluenile too.

I don''t think I''ll upgrade my diamond in the future...my husband will be so happy if he knows this
