Hello everyone,

I came across this diamond, it really seems remarkable. Great cut, clarity, size, everything. I know that traditionally it is considered advantageous to have inclusions on the edges of the diamond as they can be hidden by clasps. In case of feathers though, particularly in lesser grade diamonds, they can be the cause of chipping.

I've heard folks say that VS2 is where you are normally safe on feathers, but some folks avoid feathers in general, and particularly when around the girdle.

For someone here that is a professional in diamonds, is this diamond in any way structurally compromised or fragile?

It is a $19,000 stone, so being fragile is a pretty sensitive topic. That said, the stone outside of this is absolutely stellar. Med - Slightly thick girdle, and so forth.

As a second question (after would you be afraid to own or it is less sound than other diamonds), is would putting the inclusion on a clasp make the issue better, worse, or no effect? It would be nice to put that inclusion under a clasp, but if it applies a pressure point to a weak area of the stone, maybe that is a not a good idea.

Thanks!

vvs2 feather is going to be very tiny.
They rarely concern me.
Talk to the vendor about your concerns

prongs can be put next to inclusions but should not be put directly over it.

My good lady's stone is VVS2 with a feather. It takes me a while to find it with a loupe!!

What are the proportions on this stone?

Anything VVS is no concern to durability. Don't worry over it. I can hardly see it on the clarity plot. :appl:
