Hi, i’m currently trying to buy a diamond and have been offered this 2.38 carat pear diamond.
Below i will link the reddit post i’ve made about the diamond as i can’t post videos here
Could anyone advise if it’s good?

I can’t answer your question but I found this thread on how to choose a good pear with feedback from many knowledgeable prosumers here.

Center looks very dark, it has a bowtie effect much like an oval, and it's a CVD with PGT that appears to lean brownish.

I recommend that you look for an HPHT diamond.

1. What size (physical measurements) do you want to target?
2. What is your budget?
3. Do you want a specific L/W ratio?

Thanks for your help! This is a 2.38 carat diamond that is going to be made in to a ring for me for 5.5k. My budget is around 5k for a whole ring to be made (solitaire with platinum band) with a diamond around 2-2.5ct

Is this seller located in China or India? That price is super cheap...reason I am asking.

I’m unsure where she gets her diamonds from. She is a seller in the UK (where i’m based and sells on Etsy) she has a lot of very good reviews and i’ve been recommended her page quite a bit so that’s why i messaged. The original price was around 6.5k but i managed to get a better deal for 5.5k

It's a stout deal. If you aren't sensitive to the darker bowtie effect, then I say go for it. I don't think you'll be able to do better.

Okay! I’m concerned that the diamond will look brown/yellow. Will it look like that screenshot all of the time? Or do you think that’s the worst it’ll look?

Hard to say for sure. Since it appears to have a brown undertone, the color will likely be augmented in certain lighting conditions.

If it will bother you, then you'll have to sacrifice quite a bit of carat weight to find a well-cut pear that is either in colorless range that meets your budget or has a more yellowish warmth like most natural diamonds exhibit. Finding an LGD seller in the UK that includes them in their upgrade program is probably going to be more of a chore than finding one that does so in the US.

Thankyou for your help! The woman i’m buying from is currently searching for alternative HPHT diamonds so hoping to hear back from her soon with some good diamonds! Would you mind if i asked again in this thread your opinion?

This one is much brighter for sure. It’s very hard to judge the cut because they’re moving it so fast. It almost looks like there’s some windowing going on along the center length of the diamond. Do you like it?

I must say, this one seems to grasp my attention a lot more. I’ve asked to see if i can get an ASET video/picture? I’m hoping that will help the decision

This is the ASET image that has been given to me. If anyone is still paying attention to this thread, is that any good? Haha. I really appreciate all your help!ED3F1970-C33E-46D3-8738-2153DBF11F5C.jpeg

So unfortunately the supplier has said he can’t get any more ASET pictures of the diamond. This leaves me in a sticky situation as i don’t know if i feel comfortable buying the ring without knowing the diamond is perfect. What do you guys think? (If anyone is still reading lol)

For myself, I would only buy a lab grown or natural diamond from a well reputed company with an excellent return policy and lots of good customer reviews. I'm not sure what company or person you're working with. If you're confident you can return this if you're not happy, you can buy your own idealscope and evaluate it once you receive it. Unfortunately, it's difficult to get advanced images on virtual inventory.
