Is this band dangerously thin to wear?

PI was just passed down my mother’s five-stone diamond anniversary band. I’m used to wearing a 2mm e-ring so this just seemed a little thinner than what I’m used to, especially with the tapered shank.

Is this too thin to wear? Or is it fine?

p.s.
Excuse the nails..I’m having them done again tomorrow :P2

The thickness IMHO isn't the issue, I've got bands that are Antique that are worn a lot thinner than this one, the issue is see the photo where you are holding the ring between your fingers you can see it's not straight and I think it's probably been resized once or twice or more in the past. Having metal bent slightly out of shape like that and resizing cause more of an issue with durability than the actual mm thickness of the band provided they are not really thin to begin with.

If in doubt take it to a good jeweller and ask them if it is O.K to wear. I don't think anyone can accurately assess that by looking at a pic, because the metal could be totally fine or it could be soft or indeed brittle in places.

Right, what arkieb said about multiple sizings. My ering (originally my mom's) is super thin but is strong (never gone out of round).

Love to see pics of the stones on your ring.

I just looked at it again, and it's actually not bent out of shape at all. It is still perfectly round...must have been the camera/angle.

Sure! Here it is, under fluorescent light.

It looks okay without a closer inspection, but I would take it in to your favorite jeweler and ask about having it reshanked, as well as having the prongs checked. Is it platinum or white gold?

It is 14k white gold. It doesn't have any hint of yellowing and is still shiny :appl:

Just wanted to say its pretty!...nothing else to add

Thanks for sharing. It has a great presence on your hand. Get it checked out and enjoy! Couple of things I notice with thin shank rings is that a) I can not really tell they're even there and b) they tend to spin (diamond drop). I like to not feel it wand I also like to twirl/fidget, so win-win for me :)

If it's not bent out of shape or abnormally thin in one place it should be fine. If in doubt take it to a good jeweller to check.
