Price sounds way too low, not that we can even estimate a price on such little information. You know the saying, "You get what you pay for"? Well, there''s something not too good about a 1 ct. stone priced that low.
I understand its hard to judge without the stats , and thanx for your reply. I was just asking cuz I had a previous post ''HEPL!!'' about a semimount ring set I had fallen in love with. Well my BF and I are making an appointment to go there when he gets home the end of Feb and he had said that if we liked it in person he may just buy the set w/ a center stone there so its all done at one place, it may be easier and cheaper. So I e-mailed the jeweler and asked if they had this piece already set with a 1ct center stone? and IF so how much would it cost for the set including the center stone. She said that she would have it ready with a 1ct G/SI-1 center stone and it sll would cost $4,500. So I took $4,500 and deducted the $1,860 for the semimount and wedding band and got $2640 for the center stone
Don''t go with that approach. If you are going to do it. Buy your 1 ct online. You have the folks here to help give advice. If this is a semimount make sure the 1Ct you buy matches in color clarity to side diamonds. The jeweler will be happy to mount it. He sold you the semimount and probably won''t charge for mount. I did this very thing for a semimount I bought from James & Sons and got my center diamond from BlueNile. It turned out great. By the way its all about the fire and scintillation. Good luck.
I agree. Get a higher quality diamond online and have it set in the setting. You won''t get a decent 1 ct. diamond for $3000. Think more like $5000 up.
