I ordered this 1.61ct marquise and received it today:

It looks pretty good to my eye, but I have no other marquise diamonds to compare it to and am second guessing myself.

I used my handheld ASET viewer try and evaluate the cut but the indentations on the back-lit tray are not a good fit for this size and shape of diamond so it's not completely straight in the photo. The ASET suggests leakage but I don't see it in person, in fact it looks pretty bright right across the stone. But maybe there are marquise which would look much brighter than this one?

I think you did very well selecting it.
Congrats!

That was about 1/2 hour of fiddling about with tweezers (and swearing a lot) to get the stone to sit reasonly upright. I think I need tips from you Garry!

Is it weird that there is so little contrast showing?

Removing the bow tie removes the blue in ASET.
Real world it has enough contrast.
Its a demo of why the contrast model in ASET is broken.

Thanks for explaining. My nerd brain loves learning about how the different fancy shapes handle light. :D

Move the stone a tiny bit and some red will flash blue.
I prefer to rock stones using ASET
