Is this a good deal?

I'm looking at a Forever Mark round cut 1k diamond engagement ring. The price on the ring is $9k, the salesman and manager took the price down to $6500, claiming it on account of their being an inconvenience since the entire front of their store us under reconstruction. Does this sound like a good deal, it's exactly the ring I want, but after tax it's still just out of my price range.
