I'm in the process of buying this 2.5 ct, I , SI1, 3X GIA certified stone. The seller claims it's eye-clean, but I'm still worries the inclusions will show :/

Thoughts on the inclusions and cut quality are much appreciated.

Eye clean is subjective so you need to know under what conditions they determine this. I think the black inclusion under the table could be visible depending on how close you hold it to your eye.

The inclusion under the table is probably the grade setter but I don't think it will be visible unless you look very closely - with a loupe. These pictures are magnified many times.

I think it's eye clean, you should be ok. Nice choice, looks good.

Ah I just got confirmation from the supplier that it wasn't eye clean. I think I'm going to look at VS2 or better stones. I haven't come across any SI-1 stones in this size that are really "eye-clean". I'm also afraid that in this size range it's going to be easier to spot the inclusions. So VS2 it is...

That's a safe bet, once you hit that magical 2ct mark, clean Si1's are ALOT harder to find.

Oh boy, that's a blow. I'm truly surprised. Can they elaborate at what distance they can see the inclusion? If it's 6 inches or less, that may be ok. Most vendors use 10 to 12 " away Looking from top down. Might be worth looking for yourself if shipping is covered, as another poster mentioned.

Doesn't look eye clean to me. Also bear in mind that inclusions are reflected inside the stone & do have a greater impact on overall clarity than the physical inclusion suggests.

I wasn't able to find out from what distance the inclusions could be seen.

I could've returned it, but the turn around times and refunds can be slow. I have one opportunity to get it right before my deadline :)

Depends on what you expect with eye clean. I hold mine up super close and dont want to see anything from any angle and upside down. Lots of people have different expectations. That is why I don't go lower than vs2, and I am picky about those too. I've seen most vendors define it as 12 inches away.

FYI the grade setting inclusion is the feather, not the crystal under the table. You can see the tiny feather right on the girdle that goes from the crown to the pavillion and IMO is more of a concern than the crystal, which most likely is not visible to the lay viewer.

Eye-clean is completely subjective. For me, it looks like it would be eye-clean. Beautiful stone!! :wavey:

Keep looking! Try not to get discouraged... I have a 2.43 SI1 that is completely eye clean (feather on side). I even have a hard time seeing the feather with a loupe.
