Hi all, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted here, but I’m in need of some help. This summer I reset my diamond into an absolutely gorgeous MWM setting - the Petite Torchiere. After the reset, I realized my wedding band just didn’t work with it (plus it’s too big now anyway - it’s an eternity band so can’t be resized).

So I’ve been looking around for a new wedding band, but ideally I don’t want to spend a lot right now on a custom band. I purchased a 1mm spacer as I didn’t want my old wedding band to rub against the prongs of my ering, and I realized that what I’d really like is a 2-2.5mm plain platinum wedding band that is only 1mm thick (i.e. tall). At that thickness/height, it won’t rub against the prongs and also won’t require a spacer. I’ve been looking around, but I don’t seem to see any platinum rings that are 1mm thick except for a 1mm wide spacer.

If this even makes sense, haha, does anyone have any suggestions? Does such a thing exist as a stock band? Or does it not exist because something so thin in thickness would cause it to get out of round too easily? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try the Tiffany Lucida plain platinum band. It’s riunded but seemed quite low. And it was pretty narrow, just under 2mm if I remember correctly. Maybe not wide enough for you.

Thank you! I can certainly see if my local Tiffany's has one for me to try on. I was also interested in the traditional Tiffany knife edge wedding band, as I thought perhaps the knife edge would help minimize contact between the prongs and band, however both of my 2 local Tiffany's didn't have a single one in stock for me to see! I was so surprised! The associate at the second one seemed confused as to what band I was even talking about until I finally brought up the link from their website :rolleyes2:

Another option is to contact etsy vendor Raven's Refuge and ask if they can make the band for you in your preferred width, thickness, profile (flat, half-round, round) and finish ... and you can request comfort fit or flat or round inner shank: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RavensRefuge

I have bought from Raven's Refuge several times - their work product is high-quality, meticulously crafted, and gorgeous - and wonderful responsive customer service to boot. Listed now on their website they have Platinum bands that are 2.5 x 1.5mm ($736), and 2 x 1.5mm ($576), and a skinny 1.5mm x 1mm band priced at $328 (https://www.etsy.com/listing/868953..._query=platinum+1.5mm&ref=shop_items_search_2) - I think for sure Dan can build the band you want, and it will last forever.

Oddly enough, I bought the 3mm Tiffany Lucida band last week. It won't be low enough for you; I'd guess that the 3mm width is at least 1.8mm high.

I had the same issue, and had DK make me a tri-wire band (for the same reason you're considering the knife edge). I am very happy with it, as it doesn't rub my ER at all.

Thank you! I read something similar online as well. 1.7-1.8 minimum.

Any chance you can point me to a pic of it here on PS? Or post a pic? :-)

My Jovyn is a knife edge, but I wanted something that wasn't just another perfectly matched band. I love how the tri-wire adds texture, dimension, and visual interest. Like a knife edge, it gives the illusion that it's slimmer than it really is, while being super sturdy. :)

Wow thank you! I hadn't even thought of a band like this!

You're welcome! It may not be what you're looking for, but it's just one of many styles you could pair with your solitaire -- they're so versatile! ...and Mark Morrell settings are so incredibly fluid and classy! Gorgeous!!

Thank you for all your help! I will eventually have Mark make me some type of wedding band. His work is absolutely amazing, and he was a pleasure to work with. But until that happens, I’d love to have some type of band to look married :lol-2: The 1mm spacer isn’t terrible, but I would love to play around with something wider but not taller. The Stuller may be inexpensive enough to work for the short-term! And now I have the tri-wire to add to my list of potential “real” wedding bands. Thank you!

Sounds like a knife edge or tri-wire would be the way to go! Let us know what you choose and post pics!
