Is there an insurance comp that is better to go with for OEC

For some reason I have a vision of losing an earring and having an insurance company force a modern round brilliant on me rather than trying to find a matching OEC. Is there a company that is better in handling old stones to insure my earrings with, please?

I use Jeweler's Mutual and they will usually work with whatever vendor you got the original from--just be sure the appraisal clearly states that the stones are old cuts. I had a big issue last year when an appraiser wanted to call my OEC a round brilliant. I went through a big hassle to have the stone re-certified as an AGS old european cut, as the GIA report called it a circular brilliant. :blackeye:

The insurance agency should give you the option to turn in the other diamond and start over with a new pair. They'd never be able to manage to find you a match to an OEC. I wouldn't even consider it. You almost need a cash-out policy for that, and I think Touchstone Insurance offers the only option for that now (through AIG, I think).
