Is the window in this sapphire acceptable to you?

The ring is breathtaking to me! But as others have said you have to love it.

I have dropped it off to the jeweler yesterday. We have decided to just cover the hole at the bottom of the basket (or is it called the bridge). In this case, I can still clean the bottom of the stone through the gaps on the side with a small brush. I hope it can come back to me in a week. I am so nervous now.

I wouldn’t even tweak the setting. I would enjoy the play of light. Your pictures show clear corners looking down into the center. I think it’s a tilt window you see at certain angles. No worries. Honestly, I would be thanking my lucky stars to have such a beautiful stone and setting. You did well! Enjoy!!

HI MissyBeaucoup! I love the ring in your profile pic, Any chance I can see some bigger photos of it? Many TIA!

Your ring is so beautiful despite the window.
Would you mind sharing the specs please?

It is a Sri Lanka sapphire, 7.01ct, about 11mm x 9mm. The side stones are Cadillac cut 0.44ct each. The ring is set in white gold.

I was offered four sets of side stones. They are all very nice.

Looking forward to see the result. The change will hopefully put your eyes and mind at ease. Your stone is beautiful

So glad you decided to keep the stone as is for now. I too am sooo looking forward to seeing how a change in setting will affect its look. Do you know how long the job will take your jeweler?

The jeweler said it will be around two weeks. But it only took them one week to set the ring so I believe it will be faster than two weeks to close the bottom. Fingers cross!

Blue sapphires don't always speak to me, but this one does. Love the ring, it's gorgeous.

Woooow that new setting change made a 100-% difference! I can’t see any window at all! This is truly special. Would you maybe make a separate thread dedicated to it and share your story? :)

The color of the sapphire doesn't always look so blue (as in the photos). Sometimes it is lighter, sometimes it is a bit grey. All I can say is, it is quite photogentic. But I like it no matterwhat.

I picked my ring up last night and it looks great! The window is not visible in most (if not all) angles now. I am so happy!

Beautiful stone, beautiful new setting, and especially a great lesson in how to deal with a window.
