Our government is going after people who are showing up for their hearings. They are going after people who are NOT criminals. They are good people who are contributing to our society. Going after people who are following the rules and doing what is legally necessary is wrong.

This administration is all about cruelty. It’s sickening.

Let's hope he survives the insults and hate that has already been unleashed against him from you know who and his supporters. This is a wake up call to his party because they have lost the plot. The debacle of the 2024 election campaign, the huge crowds garnered by the Bern and AOC as well as this primary win signals that voters are hungry for significant change and his party needs to do better, much better, reading the tea leaves if they hope to regain a House majority let alone another presidency.

Yes there are those on either side of the extreme and they are dangerous. I am talking about the party who is filled with anti American radicals and it is not just the extreme party. When the taliban took over Afghanistan, they said publicly that “there are no christians in Afghanistan” The majority of Muslim countries for the most part are not tolerant of Christianity or other religions besides Islam. As for the parade, the boycott was due to the cost of the parade and the mistake the prez made tying it into this birthday. A man who has no respect for the military, who never served, associating his day of birth with this event was a trashy move. Members of his party and many of his staunchest supporters were opposed and that's why his usual throngs of suppoters were absent. What he did achieve that day is unite members of both parties and both electorates against him in the common goal of expressing their displeasure with the parade so that was quite an achievement although not the one he wanted.

We are no longer a country where people can safely disagree with the president. Heads may not be rolling literally yet but they are figuratively. Those who oppose his policies and his methods are being threatened, harassed, silenced throughout government, even in his own party, and in the media. He calls anyone who disagrees with him scum, dumb, failures, losers and threatens to primary those in his party who disagree with him. He has driven any remaining classic elected republicans underground. They fear speaking against him so they remain silent and only the extremist voices are heard. He is a wanna be king and an actual authoritarian who would be dictator if he could. His hateful rhetoric has caused physical harm to people. His latest victim is the Dem mayoral candidate in NYC who he called a "100% communist lunatic." He and the maga party are unlike anything in modern history and whatever corruption you see in other parties pales in comparison.


Re: your post #258. The prez and his party have made it clear that the US is a Christian nation which is contrary to what the founding fathers established. This extremely conservative party is eroding the rights of women, the poor, minorities and the LGBTQ+ communities. They support and encourage groups dedicated to putting the 10 commandments in schools under false pretenses and against the Constitution. One of the conservative SCOTUS judges wants to overturn the landmark decisions of same-sex marriages and contraception using the same rationale used to overturn Roe v Wade. These people have decided that children don't have the right to trans care and I'm not talking about hormone therapy or surgery but of the counseling that is necessary to help them cope with the distress and stresses that they endure because they feel different. Pregnant women are dying because doctors are afraid to treat them. Authoritarian regimes and dictatorships control through fear and retribution and those are two highly public aspects of the current administration and its behavior is deeply rooted in their extreme religious beliefs, or rather, they use religion as an excuse for their extremism because so much of what they're doing is against much of what the bible says. In short, they resemble more and more as time goes by those Islamist extremists you fear.
