Is anyone else feeling fearful with what’s happening?

So many of these replies are going to be deleted. I can feel the tattletales running to the "report" link.

Briefly addressing the deportations, I don't care if one admin deported 1 million violent criminal illegal immigrants, and another 500 - as long as they were treated with respect and like humans. Received due process. Were not rounded up at court hearings. Were not sent to who-knows-where. You get the idea.

Israel killed Iranian scientists. Are we to applaud this?

The US is so screwed up. "We" are mirroring everything we've always supposedly despised about "oppressed" countries. "We" celebrate bombings, inhumane treatment of others, turning back the clock on women's rights, etc. It's grotesque.

One of my favorite sayings lately is may you have the life you voted for. I'm still waiting.

I don't like this thread
I don't like seeing my friends disagreeing although I know that is a normal part of life
I wish like everyone the situation was better

It is .much easier living at the bottom of the world with no land boarders
We have total control of who we let in unlike in the US and also the UK and Europe

This present situation is pretty terrible for alll

Take care and be kind to your neighbors
I know you are all good people

Feel free to ignore my posts if you don’t like what I’m posting or how I’m posting. I promise I won’t take it personally

You misunderstood. You claimed we never faced annihilation in #162 and repeatedly claimed we are facing annihilation in other discussions -- the "we" being USA and all western civ. so that makes this ⬇️ untrue.
Yet somehow, you feel entitled to tell Jews and Israelis how to survive...
That's not morality, it's privilege, dressed up as principle. It's virtue signaling.

We (Jewish people and Israel) have faced many attempts of annihilation.

The same terrorists who want to destroy us and Israel want to destroy the USA too.

That’s what the west is next means.

That doesn’t absolve (the general) you from my comments above.

I wholeheartedly stand by my statement

I am using the word “you” to refer to *some* Pricescopers ( general you).

Sadly it seems the west never learns
History is doomed to be repeated

The media is sweeping facts under the proverbial rug. One very recent example
Two days ago a suicide bomber murdered 25 Christians in a church in Syria
It took just hours for the media to sweep the story away. No names and photos of the victims. No demos in our streets.
While terrorists kill Christians all the time, the west is silent

Persia was an empire before Sharia law destroyed everything. It was an amazing country. Amazing. Now look at it
The West is next.

Just to add. Sweden is getting smart. They don’t like what’s been happening in their country and have made changes. For the first time since the 1960's, Sweden's government has registered more migrants leaving the country than entering, with asylum applications at the lowest in 25 years.

No way will the murder of 25 Christians in a church in Syria rise to the level of attention in the US than if the same occurred in the US. The people of this planet are inundated daily by news that is primarily bad all the while dealing with challenges in their personal lives. Everyone has a limit to how much they can absorb. When the actions of governments dominate front page news a lot of other stuff gets lost. I haven't seen much in-depth coverage of states that have faced damaging floods and lost lives these past few weeks and not a word about the huge number of deaths in The Sahel due to Islamic terrorism. Another sad outcome of too much bad news is that people become inured to it. Oh another school shooting, kids dead, thoughts and prayers and in other news.... And let's not ignore the elephant in the room, a president who has sued news agencies who report what he doesn't like and how many of them have caved under the threat of what he'll do to them.

I read recently that Christians are the most persecuted religion in the world but where is the outrage ?
It is swept under the carpet like you say

I have to wonder how many people showing off their numerous baubles on PS are living in an active war zone, because from some of these replies you’d think those very same people were being hunted down daily while bombs fly overhead.

It’s also so incredibly depressing thinking about a certain leader of the “free” world having guest spots on shows such as INFO WARS with Alex Jones, a conspiracy theorist who told millions of gullible idiots that Sandy Hook was a hoax.

@Matata Absolutely. People are desensitized to most of the suffering everywhere. Heartbreaking

We can only take so much. That’s how I feel with the animals too. So much suffering but many don’t care.

I find it interesting what so many focus on and what they ignore. One is not more newsworthy than another. I have a rhyme in mind but I think it’ll offend some so I’ll keep it to myself

I don’t think I’ll ever not care but it’s hard
My heart hurts with all the suffering I know about. And so much more we aren’t aware of…
I’ll repeat myself again. There’s nothing humane about humanity and this world would be better off without humans. Forgive me for repeating myself

Nicky when we contact each other off ps I’ll share the rhyme that explains why no one seems to care about the persecuted Christians. Tragic

I’m Swedish, born and raised, but Im just as much Armenian as I come from an Armenian family, who has lived as a Christian minority in Iran for generations. And when you grow up with that kind of history, annihilation isn’t a concept, it’s memory. The generational trauma of genocide is real. And Armenia to this day is still surrounded by countries who don’t accept its existence and wants it flattened to the ground.

I know your post wasn’t directed at me, but I sort of felt the need to reply, to show where my perspective comes from. And again, to give you context of my perspective.

I’ve actually agreed with a lot of the reforms around immigration here. I get that systems have to function, and integration has to be real. That’s fair.

But the real problem in Sweden hasn’t been the amount of immigration. It’s been the lack of a plan. Swedes, and I say this with love, are kind of naive when it comes to social cohesion. We just sort of assumed it would work itself out…

Funding for youth centers disappeared, the youth didn’t have anywhere to go, so they would just hang around, with no adult supervision, where they can be recruited for illegal activities. Then came the shootings, the fear, the blame. And that’s when parties built on exclusion started growing at quite a fast rate. And this past election 1/4 of the Swedes voted for a party that has nationalistic and racist policies.

So as a result of that, yes, immigration has gone down. But the problems haven’t, at least not yet and assume it will take about a decade to see the effects. But the issue was never the number of immigrants , it was the fact that we never built the structures needed to make integration work.

The challenge now, is that Sweden actually depends on immigration. We have an aging population. The economy, healthcare, schools, elderly care, all of it relies on people coming here and doing the work most Swedes honestly don’t wanna do. Still, it’s immigrants who get blamed for the problems.

As I said earlier, context is EVERYTHING. I say this, not expecting you should know all the details of Swedish politics, but because looking at a net number does not give you the entire story.

So yup, some of the policies make sense on paper. But when they’re driven by fear and exclusion, I can’t really support them. That’s how things shift…slowly, till you forget where the line used to be.

And I say this knowing your background, I’d think you, of all people, might see how fast those lines can move once we start redrawing them.

Thank you for sharing your perspective @viola09

Immigration is an amazing thing with those who want to live there for a better life. To make a better life for their family.
For those who want to come and make the country their own and love living there and embrace the culture and people here and are contributing members of society
I welcome them with open arms

The people who come with ulterior motives are those we need to be very concerned about.
I know we are not allowed to discuss specifics but most of us know what I mean

No matter who rules my country I still love my country and cannot imagine living anywhere else.
I imagine that is how many of us feel
You have to ask yourself those who come here (or anywhere) and start trying to change things to the way it was in the country they left...why come here? Rhetorical question... I think we know why

Thought this was a very thought provoking post.

Propaganda starts with the manipulation of language. The goal is to render violence morally palatable when committed by those aligned with imperial interests.
Noam Chomsky has long argued that the most effective propaganda in democratic societies is not the outright lie, but the strategic framing that defines the bounds of acceptable thought. This happens not by controlling what we think, but by controlling what we think about, and more crucially, how we talk about it.
Consider the way governments are described. Allies of empire are governed by “administrations” or “democracies,” while enemies have “regimes.” Allies engage in “preemptive strikes” or “targeted operations,” while others “attack” or “escalate.” Our allies “defend themselves”; their enemies are “aggressors.” When a powerful nation stockpiles nuclear weapons, it is “deterrence.” When an enemy pursues the same, it’s a “threat.”
These choices aren’t accidental. They signal who the audience should empathize with and who they should fear. They suggest legitimacy or illegitimacy without ever needing to make a direct argument. It’s not that one country does self-defense while another does terrorism—it’s that the label itself is a tool of propaganda, applied selectively to support imperial policy.
This manipulation of language also defines who is human and who is not. Our civilians are “families,” “children,” “innocent lives lost.” Theirs are “collateral damage.” We never “bomb a city”; we “neutralize targets.” They never “resist”; they “foment instability.”
This is how public consent is engineered—not with force, but with framing. Through decades of this conditioning, populations come to internalize the narrative: that our wars are necessary, our allies righteous, our enemies barbaric. Even when the facts are plain, the language inoculates the public against outrage.
But once you start seeing these linguistic patterns, you can’t unsee them. And that’s when the real work begins—challenging the narrative, exposing the frame, and refusing to accept the moral double standards that justify endless war under the banner of peace. - Films For Action

This is interesting. The majority of “ICE” agents we see with their faces masked are deputized corrections officers. They are not with the department of Homeland Security. Basically wannabe cops. No self respecting law enforcement officer would wear a face mask. It also offers others with nefarious intentions to pose as ICE agents.

Conversely, the POTUS tweeted a few weeks ago during the LA protests,
“Arrest people in face masks now!”

I read that if they won't identify themselves you should call 911 and report men impersonating LE. Considering there was multiple assassinations (+attempts) by someone doing the same thing a single week ago, no way I'd be going along peacefully.

Israel’s motivation ? Let’s see. Direct attacks and assassinations stemming from the Gaza war. For one.

The strikes targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites and were triggered by Iran's violation of nuclear proliferation obligations as declared by the IAEA.

Israel viewed Iran's nuclear program as an existential threat and aimed to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons.

Exactly. That was their motivation too. None of us want that.

I believe our leaders and theirs had this planned together but it’s all speculation. We don’t have the facts. Not yet. But initially our president had said he was going to think about this for a couple of weeks. I believe he said that to throw our enemies off track.

Disagree completely. Peace is the goal.

Furthermore, Israel should not tolerate any country that wants its extermination. You can’t negotiate with those who only want you dead

“Hitler said he wanted us dead no one believed him
Hamas said they wanted us dead and again no one believed them

Iran said they would wipe Israel and the USA off the face of the map. Glad finally we believe them”

I’m paraphrasing the quote above from memory
I believe them
I also believe the world is a safer place now for everyone

We have a long way to go but this is a beginning

Amen!

What could possibly go wrong.

If a man approached me on the street dressed like the pictures I have seen of these men, I would be terrified. Even if they said they were ICE officers, you don’t know who they are. They show up in regular vans, faces completely covered with zip ties. It shouldn’t be legal for our government to terrorize people. No decent man would take a job like this.

We can agree to disagree. The past administrations did a lot of damage that can’t be easily fixed. In fact part of the reason we’re in the pickle we’re in now. IMO

Agree, past administrations did lots of damage that we now have to fix.

A lot of things have happened in this country that I don’t believe the majority of citizens approve of. Five million people didn’t turn up for the “No Kings” protest for nothing. People are rising against what we are seeing on several fronts.

It’s pretty clear the majority of Americans do not war. Saturday night did not make the US safer.

That’s the whole idea, creating fear, chaos.

In South American countries the local policia would cover their faces so the cartels couldn’t identify them and retaliate against them and their families.
However, this is not how law enforcement treats people in this country. It’s unAmerican!

But the real problem in Sweden hasn’t been the amount of immigration. It’s been the lack of a plan.

We don't have a plan either. We've kicked the proverbial can down the road for decades leaving us with an antiquated immigration system in need of a serious overhaul. This is not new news. I cannot understand why we have been unable for generations to at least fix the mechanisms for immigration/integration. Instead the focus is on and arguments about who is coming here and how many. Wringing hands and complaining is easier than doing and the doing will never get done as long as our two parties would rather fight against each other than play nice together for the good of the people who elected them.

If you’ve watched some of these arrests they are brutal. No chance to call 911. Even school children zip tied.
We are allowing barbarism.
