My pet thing is body hue and body colour in diamonds - something that most people either ignore or don't know about or understand at all.... the reason why you can have a yellow looking "I" a grey looking "I" or a white looking "I", a pink looking "I" a yellow/green looking "I" and so on. I never cease to be amazed that certain underlying tints like a brownish pink for example can almost disappear and make a stone face white to the average person yet another stone with the same colour grading can look quite yellow to the average person.

I've also seen a grey looking "D" a blue looking "D" a white looking "D" and a green looking "D".

What a great post!
When you look at enough diamonds of different color, shapes and sizes it becomes apparent that not all G color diamonds look as white as the next.
Partly because of the point arkieb1 makes.
But also due to other variations in material.
I also agree that making generalizations in this area will usually be to the disadvantage to consumers- the implication s that a D is "better" or "clearer" than a J.
There are those who prefer a J to a D.

These aspect also mean it's inaccurate to say all Emerald Cuts show more color than Rounds ( for example)- or that larger stones necessarily show more color. Many do- but certainly not all, depending on which stones are being compared.

I don't think it is helpful to turn this thread into another of the many Pricescope threads about the variety of hues available in diamonds and the fact that some people prefer diamonds icy white and other people prefer them warm. Those threads are always available in RockyTalky in abundance if a newcomer comes along and has not heard that discussion before.

What we are discussing here is what Golconda diamonds look like and, to some extent, whether there is body color of differing hues in non-Golconda diamonds graded the same color grade by GIA. And we are discussing, I guess, if there is such a body color, whether it becomes more saturated when the stone is larger.
