She is doing well thanks Aunty Emm! HATES all this pants weather though, typical TB, get a drop of rain on her and she starts to shiver!
Lorelei, I know what you mean! TBs are such wusses! LOL! Red doesn''t even have a good excuse, because he was born and raised in Canada, so he should be used to the cold weather!
20.gif

It''s starting to get pretty cold at night here, and I had to dig out his winter blankie the other day!

Irisshgirl - I''m catching up!! lol Your proposal story is too cute!!! Red sounds like a doll and the arab thing, I think you just have to find the right horse in today''s world. I''ve seen some crazies too, but it''s the trainers that do it to them or the breeders by breeding blowup to blow up lol. I''ve seen some crazy things elsewhere though so meh, but I have two arabs so wanted to ask.

What''s your fav food?
Dessert?
book?
Dragonfly, is the horse in your avatar one of your babies? He''s (she''s?) GORGEOUS!!!

Red is such a grumpy old man. He''s all bark and no bite, though! He has such a personality . . . I wish you guys could meet him!
21.gif

My favorite food has to be crab legs. I''m such a Marylander! LOL!
2.gif

Favorite dessert would be baklava (which is weird because I''m not even remotely Greek) . . . it''s delicious!
18.gif

It''s hard to pick a favorite book. I love to read! One of my all-time favorites was "The Notebook" . . . I cried the whole way through that book! I really like Stephen King, and also Nora Roberts writing under her pen name (J.D. Robb). BTW, Nora Roberts is from our area, and she gets her hair done at the same place I do!

I rugged Madam last year, but rugs do make her grumpy, she doesn''t like them so I haven''t so far this year. I am hoping I can get away with it! It doesn''t take much to get her in a grump anyway!

I bet Red looks very smart in his winter blankie - bless him!

OH, yes! He is so funny! We think he must have been gelded late, because he has always been quite the "ladies man." When I first put his blankie on him in the winter, he absolutely STRUTS past all the mares! Like, "Hellooooooo, ladies!" LOL! Let''s just say he has very high self-esteem.
20.gif
9.gif

I don''t blame Madam for getting irritated with wearing her blanket. I think Red does get tired of wearing his after a while, too. I always try to take it off whenever it''s warm enough or when he''s inside, just to give him a little break from wearing it. I know how much I hate wearing a bulky winter coat . . . poor guy!

LOL!! He sounds like such a character, my beloved chappie was like that, knew he was so gorgeous!!! And he was bless him!!

Madam doesn''t like them at all, so I am really hoping we can get away with it this year. Usually it doesn''t get that cold here, more damp mild and miserable, so we might manage it. She is a young horse too so that helps I think.

Lorelei, I don''t blame you . . . I wouldn''t blanket Red at all if I didn''t have to. I think TBs just don''t get as thick of a winter coat as other breeds do for some reason.

Do you ride Madam much? I''m thinking you''re into dressage for some reason, although I have NO idea why I think that! LOL!

Hmmmm . . . favorite movies . . . well, of course, the Notebook since that''s also one of my favorite books!
9.gif

What else? I like Pulp Fiction (Quentin Tarantino is awesome!), and John Q (with Denzel Washington) was really good too. I love the way John Q showed the damage that insurance companies can do. I deal with insurance companies all the time in my job and . . . UGH!!! Don''t get me started!!!

Lol, ya that another soapbox we could stand on, hey?

So, Halloween is coming, what''s your fav candy?

Did you trick or treat as a kid? If so, what was your fav costume?

My favorite Halloween candy has to be Reese''s pumpkins! (Ya know, those chocolate pumpkins with peanut butter filling? They also have egg-shaped ones at Easter.) And my favorite costume was probably when I went as a butterfly. I was probably about 6 or 7 years old, and my Mom made me these awesome butterfly wings, and she stuck pipecleaners on a headband for antennas . . . it was really cute, and I won a costume contest!
9.gif

My boss has a little boy, and he dressed up as a pumpkin for his first Halloween. Talk about CUTE!!! OMG, he was ADORABLE!!!

OHHHHH, yes!!! They are DELICIOUS!!! Also, speaking of Easter candy that is also Halloween candy, have you seen the Halloween Peeps?!?! I LOVE PEEPS!!! I always look forward to them at Easter, and now they have Halloween ones too!

Now, if only they would start making Cadbury eggs year-round!!!

I can't ride any more now due to back problems and I miss it. Madam is a rescue horse and the charity she came from felt she would be best as a companion as she wasn't good in traffic, so she came to us and loves it! She did compete a lot at showjumping, Xcountry and dressage prior to me having her, maybe that is where you read about the dressage. She enjoys her life very much, she has got better but if you changed her routine slightly she would get very upset ( typical TB!!) But she has improved a great deal and she is great with the farrier, vet and dentist, she just adores visitors and attention!

Lorelei, Madam''s background sounds very similar to Red''s. He is also a rescue horse, and he did three-day eventing with one of his previous owners (after his racing career ended). Madam sounds like a sweetie pie!

I''m so sorry you can''t ride anymore! That must be so frustrating. I''ve had problems in my joints (due to riding) for quite a while now, and it seems to be getting worse as I get older. It''s mainly my right hip and right wrist, but I''m also starting to get pain in my back, both knees, and right ankle. I guess there will probably come a day when I''ll have to quit, too.

So delish! And yes, peeps too, plus their just so darn cute! I have a severe sugar addiction, so I could talk and think about sweets all day long! And its almost 10, I''ve not yet caved to the vending machine!!! YES!!!!

Hee hee hee, Jo! I''m a total sucker for Easter candy. I think I probably gain five pounds every Easter!

Cadbury eggs are my absolute all-time favorite candy ever. I AM POWERLESS OVER CADBURY EGGS!!!

I had a crazy Appaloosa named Patrick (St. Patrick's Kaleidascope, born on St.Patty's day) in High School. He was such a big baby. I miss him.

Oh, and how about Reeses nutrageous? Ever had those. Peanut buttery nutty goodness!

Hmmm. I may have some old ones I can scan in - I''ll check when I''m home later! He really was a sweetie. At least to me.

I always rode bareback, and we''d go riding in the rain, LOL. So fun. My mom got him for me after my dad died when I was 12, and he was a major part of getting me through it. He just seemed to know.

Aw, I bet you do miss him! They really do seem to just KNOW, don''t they? They have such amazing personalities! It''s so funny to watch how the horses behave at the barn where I teach. They do therapeutic riding lessons for physically and developmentally disabled riders, as well as regular lessons (which is what I teach). The horses are all so gentle and well-behaved with the disabled riders, but they do give my abled riders a hard time sometimes! LOL!

Carmello''s anyone????

Dani, seriously!!! It''s like they just flip a little switch in their brains! Red is the same way, too. He tries to get away with murder with me because he knows me so well, and he knows I''m a halfway decent rider. But DH gets on him and he turns into a TOTAL Daddy''s boy! Seriously, it''s like he puts his little halo on! I think it''s because DH is kind of a beginner. (He rode years ago when he was a kid, but he rode Western then so he''s totally new to English riding.) Red is SO good for DH . . . makes me sick!

Thanks! The trouble is now when I sit on a horse it hurts. I have chronic back trouble which was aggravated by riding, so I have to be careful now.

When I did ride, I used to love to jump most of all and just hack out. I didn''t compete much as I didn''t have a lot of iinterest in it, but I do miss riding. I hope you don''t have to quit for years yet, there is nothing like riding and nothing you can do to replace it really...

Oh, Lorelei, you're a girl after my own heart!!! I have always LOVED jumping, and HATED competing! LOL!

ETA: I did have a bad accident several years ago, and I didn't ride for a long time after that. I was hurt pretty bad (much worse than any of the other times I had fallen off) and it really shook me up. But, I found that I was miserable because I wasn't riding! So, I got back into it and have been much happier since.
