Thanks yall! He is a cutie, sweet, adorable, curious! He's settling in well I think. What a day! The older dogs are taking it all in, moving between aloofness, curiosity, and playfulness. It seems to be going well so far.

I had assumed Gussie's puppy had blue eyes because he was a puppy. The only breed with blue eyes as an adult I know is the Husky (Siberian).

Some Aussiedoodles have one or both blue eyes that stay into adulthood. I’m not sure if Gussie’s puppy will keep the blue eyes?

Opie is a blue merle mini Aussie. He has one bright blue eye and one that is half blue/half brown. This is a trait of the blue merle gene. He will have this color eyes always. And they are gorgeous, even crying at 3 am!20200629_093356.jpg

Awww... Gussie-Opie is darling!!! I confess I am a little jealous too. We have been looking at mini Aussies but just haven't been able to pull the trigger with all that has been going on in life lately.
Your new baby is so precious. I will be interested to hear how training is going in the coming year.
We have one of two mini dachshunds who is on the decline (he is almost 16), and he is so time consuming now I really cant take on a puppy. I will enjoy living vicariously through you, if you let me.
 
One of my friends used to have a collie. It was actually her husband's dog before they got married. She told me he (his name was Merlin) was a blue merle collie, but I really didn't know what other "merle" dogs there were. (Merlin didn't have blue eyes.) I may have to look up merle dogs! Opie is gorgeous, but he would be wonderful with a blue eye or with two brown eyes. He is clearly a scamp. Mr. Personality. :))
